I am not fond of predictions, but I have no idea how Davis could win this fight. Glover has better hands, better grappling, strong wrestling, power and will to finish fights.

Phil Davis really needs an impressive performance, not a decision if he is going to stay a legit contender. Just my opinion but honestly I feel he is a little overrated. He has great wrestling but there are 5 other great wrestlers in the top ten alone. Although his striking has improved, from his last 5 fights he still tends to get timid to engage when he gets hit. He needs to overcome that if he has any hope of fighting for the title.
LOL, some people are such clowns. Davis cant wrestle, Davis cant strike, Davis cant grapple, Im sure thats correct I mean he hasn't beat anyone bla bla bla...
He's a better grappler than Tex IMO and when they fight we'll see if one of the most underrated fighters can beat one of the most overrated fighter in the UFC.
Yeah. Davis is probably better grappler than that other also ADCC level one he used his wrestling only to avoid going to the ground at all cost. Who knows? :confused02:
Glover is horribly overrated, Davis looks so his best when he isn't trying to mix it up because he doesn't mix it up fluidly. Anyone's fight but it won't do anything to change my opinion of either
Im not even saying tex wont knock him out but I am saying he wont sub him unless Davis is rocked, injured or whatever that's just silly.
Tex better be able to get up because he ain't doing squat from guard, he cant sub Davis from his back. Nope his best option is to stuff the TD or stand back up, if he can keep it standing he'll win and if he cant he'll lose. But Tex wont be taking Davis down without Davis being in some form of trouble IMO.
The guard is all but dead in mma yet you are here going out on a limb saying tex wont sub him from his back.
His whole game is stuffing your td in order to throw hands. No one is saying he is Werdum off his back. Bjj isnt all about that. It is somewhat possible he catches a neck. Or reveres to Phil's back.
Either way the point is Phil fot all his ncaa cred has sttuggled to get much weaker guys down. In my opinion some in part to shooting from a clear mile away since he still has novice striking and movement.
Tex has proven very strong at point of attack. So if he does get taken down, I expect him to get right up. And Tex isnt the sort of fighter to let Davis win a pt contest from way outside range.
Not a good matchup for Phil at all in my opinion. But at the end of the day I think he has to re-invent himself. A decorated wrestler, staying way outside, throwing head kicks is not a winning formula.
I think Tex beats him anywhere really. We will find out saturday.
Either way, Tex got back up almost effortlessly against Jones the few times he was taken down (Jones' usual scary offensive top game literally had nothing for Glover) so I have no reason to believe he can't do the same against Davis. Phil submitting a few low level guys doesn't lead me to believe his BJJ is any threat to Glover who is no slouch in that area himself.
Glover may not take Davis down, but I think his wrestling is more than good enough to avoid the take down, and his great ability to get back to his feet will probably be a key factor if he does happen to get put on his back. I wouldn't be surprised if Davis tried to wall and stall. He has to make it ugly if he wants to win in my opinion. Glover looks the most vulnerable in the clinch. Davis should only go for take downs for points (can't be predictable with them) and when Glover gets up, continue to lean on him. Make it ugly!
Still picking Glover to win. I don't think he's that overrated. People acted like he just got demolished and embarrassed against Jones, but I actually thought he did okay considering who he was fighting. He easily got back up to his feet when taken down, landed some strikes of his own even though he never once hurt Jones, and he avoided getting seriously rocked throughout the 25 minutes. Other than the arm injury incident, I can't remember him ever being in serious danger of being finished. 50-45 for Jones sure, but Glover never got embarrassed other than the hand on head thing Jones was doing which caused multiple eye pokes. Then again, I watched the fight on mute.
Anyways, like I said, if Davis can find success in the clinch, I give him a decent chance. I won't write him off. Glover is my pick though!
Mr Wonderful's gonna take a beating. Teixeria is a beast. Could of beat jones if he wasnt getting poked in the eye every 30 seconds from the third round onwards.
