UFCThe Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is a U.S.-based mixed martial arts organization, recognized as the largest MMA promotion in the world. The UFC is headquartered in Las Vegas, Nevada and is owned and operated by Zuffa, LLC. This promotion is responsible for solidifying the sport's postion in the history-books.
UFC is currently undergoing a remarkable surge in popularity, along with greater mainstream media coverage. UFC programming can now be seen on Spike TV in the United States, as well as in 35 other countries worldwide.
The Ultimate Fighter 5 semifinalist Joe Lauzon is eying a new place to call home, at least temporarily, according to The Patriot Ledger. Lauzon will likely be moving from Massachusets to Hawaii this fall or early next year.
Many may be wondering why Lauzon would consider changing anything in his MMA routine after his recent string of success. Boasting a 15-3 MMA record Lauzon debuted in the UFC last year as a major underdog against Jens Pulver but defeated the favorite just 48 seconds into the first round via TKO. He continued to impress in his next UFC fight, defeating Brandon Melendez last month on The Ultimate Fighter 5 finale with an impressive second round submission.
The reason Lauzon will be moving to the Aloha State is not a why but a who. His name? B.J. Penn.
Penn, who served as Lauzon’s coach on The Ultimate Fighter 5, is one of the UFC’s top lightweight fighters and a very skilled mixed martial artist. Penn came up short in three previous title fights failing to defeat Jens Pulver for the lightweight title and Matt Hughes for the welterweight championship. He fought to a draw against Caol Uno and the lightweight title was not awarded. He did successfully win the UFC welterweight championship in 2004 but left the organization before his first title defense and was stripped of the title.
Whats do you guys think. will this make joe a better Fighter all around or What?? Thoughts
I think it'll be good, but BJ is not a very good trainer. Naturally gifted people like BJ usually make for bad teachers, as we saw on the show.
Then again, I guess it'd be BJ's trainers that train him.
If he trains with BJs trainers and gets to roll with BJ regularly, he'll grow by leaps and bounds.
BJ may not be a great teacher but rolling with him will make Joe better. And it's not that BJ can't teach Joe anything. BJ wants to help him, and Joe wants to learn.
Aw, I always liked that Joe was a working man while still being an MMA star. Ahh well, I guess that had to end some time. If this goes through, I have a feeling Joe is going to get much, much better. Combine rolling with BJ and training from Penn's trainers and you've got an awesome combination. Should be good for Joe.
This is a great career move for Joe. I am sure he will improve his game a lot training with BJ full time.

I can't disagree with you more. As a conditioning coach BJ isn't very good, but at his gym conditioning is taken care of by each athlete. BJ has a wealth of knowledge that Joe could only grow from. Don't believe me? Read his book.
