Heavyweight Title History

Here is the UFC heavyweight title history in case you wanted to know. It was introduced at UFC 12 in case you didn't know.

1st champion: Mark Coleman, defeated Dan Severn, held title from UFC 12 until UFC 14. Lost title due to Decision.

2nd champion: Maurice Smith, defeated Mark Coleman, held title from UFC 14 until UFC Japan- Ultimate Japan 1. Lost title due to Decision.

3rd champion: Randy Couture, defeated Maurice Smith, held title from UFC Japan- Ultimate Japan 1 until UFC 20. Lost title due to Vacation.

4th champion: Bas Rutten, defeated Kevin Randleman, held title from UFC 20 until UFC 23. Lost title due to Vacation.

5th champion: Kevin Randleman, defeated Pete Williams, held title from UFC 23 until UFC 28. Lost title due to TKO (Strikes).

6th champion: Randy Couture, defeated Kevin Randleman, held title from UFC 28 until UFC 36. Lost title due to TKO (Strikes).

7th champion: Josh Barnett, defeated Randy Couture, held title from UFC 36 until UFC 39. Lost title due to Vacation.

8th champion: Ricco Rodriguez, defeated Randy Couture, held title from UFC 39 until UFC 41. Lost title due to TKO (Strikes).

9th champion: Tim Sylvia, defeated Ricco Rodriguez, held title from UFC 41 until UFC 44. Lost title due to Vacation.

10th champion: Frank Mir, defeated Tim Sylvia, held title from UFC 48 until UFC 51. Lost title due to Vacation.

11th champion: Andrei Arlovski, defeated Tim Sylvia, held title from UFC 51 until UFC 59. Lost title due to KO (Punch).

12th champion: Tim Sylvia, defeated Andrei Arlovski, current champion
