Does the ring being 8-sided make that much difference? I know when the UFC first started it didn't want a ring that would suit a particular style like a square for boxing or wrestling nor a circle for sumo. Now things have changed and although the styles are still different, does the octagon play a part of winning or losing? If it where a square, circle or triangular cage would the fight outcome be different?

i think it would give you easier and better space to manuvour. in a regualr ring you get cought in cornors. granted there is more in a Octagon, theyre not as sharpe and deep.

on the other hand i have no effin clue. this is just a guess....
