who has been jacked the most on the score cards or just getting caught with submissions or punches

id have to go with either bj penn or Carlos Newton.

bj came SOOO close to beating Jens in that first fight, he got screwed against onu the second time and he broke his rib against Hughes and (i think) should have won that fight against bj penn. That's three belt fights he should have won.

And in short for Carlos, his 13-12 record is very inaccurate of how good he reli is

im going to have to go with clay guida. he lost two RAZOR THIN decisions that could easily have gone either way.

and gsp for having to fight a guy from a reality show (i know i know hes a veteran, but the whole concept was dumb in the first place).

When I saw the thread title, I thought it was about Clay Guida so he gets the vote for me. The guy lost two decisions I thought should have gone his way, and it's bad luck when they come in a row.
Yeah man, Clay should be up there in contention had he gotten the decisions. Just imagine he could easily be 3-0 in the UFC and would probably prepping by now for a no.1 contendership with Stevenson, huerta and kenflo etc.

Elvis. His record does not reflect how good he really is. He's had a series of bad matchups for him and never seems to get an easy fight like a lot of guys get while they're moving up.

I did a piece on this a while ago.

The problem is that you guys are all thinking inside the box, strictly about guys who make the big time. No one in the UFC has bad luck, because they're in the biggest organization in the world.

Try this out:

Yuji Nagata
Height: 6'0
Weight: 226 pounds
Professional MMA record: 0-2
Style: Professional Wrestling

Yuji Nagata has fought twice on the Inoki-Bom-Ba-Ye card, which is always held on New Years Eve. He made his MMA debut in December of 2001. He was KO'd in 21 seconds by K-1 kickboxer who was starting to find his way into MMA. The fighter wasn't really well known outside of kickboxing at the time and held a pro MMA record of 1-0-1.

That fighter was Mirko "CroCop" Filipovic.

Nagata's career didn't end there, though. He returned to fight on the Inoki-Bom-Ba-Ye card in 2003. This time Nagata got out of the first minute, but was stopped 2 seconds later by TKO. His opponent this time was a Russian fighter who had already made a name for himself as a groundnpound machine in PRIDE FC.

In case you didn't figure it out: that was Fedor Emelianenko.

That is an unlucky guy. In 2 pro fights he has taken on Fedor and CroCop, #1 and 2 fighters in the world, in most people's books.

His MMA career spans an incredible 1:23, all of which is him getting his ass kicked by overwhelming competition.

edit: ^^ karo had bad luck with that lost title shot but in all i'd say he's pretty lucky with his fights. he's won fights where he should have lost, say if his opponent had prepared a little better, etc. serra would have finished him if he didn't ease up, fickett would have beaten him if he wasn't injured and in bad shape, same for burkman.

diaz should have won his fight against karo, that was his decision. that nsac shyt with gomi was jacked too. i haven't seen the sherk, riggs, or hironaka fights though.

Cro Cop.

Gonzaga killing him was awful. He gets within an arms reach of every title, and has to settle for "I got close".

The 2006 GP was a win, and technically a title, but at that time he was so pissed off that he would have retired if he didn't take it after not beating Fedor's ass like I had prayed for.

You have to admit, that would have been bigger than the ending to The Mighty Ducks... which was huge... at least when I was 10.

carlos newton is a sick fighter.

mma is soooo messed up cause i lucky shot, or a slip and you can get rocked.
could you imagine what would happen if they did a best 2 out of 3 ko's/submission.
do you think gsp would have lost? ok, crop cop wouldnt have been able to continue .... but would some of these fights ended in losses.

I guess thats the beauty of MMA, you never know what to expect.

just really shitty that you train and outfight someone and then accidentaly get hit by a lucky shot and your done.

look at koscheck ... he had that fight in the bag and got rocked by a knee. MMA ... gotta luv it

Definitely Nick Diaz. He does so much work on his back, but it goes un-noticed. The UFC judges who is on top, but if they judged on who had the best technique and was doing the most work, Nick Diaz would be winning a s***load of fights. His fight against Diego Sanchez I think he should have won, but that's just me.
