Why does anyone think Franklin will beat A. Silva?

Now hear me out, I know there are many Franklin fans out there but personally I cannot figure out why they all believe that Franklin will beat Anderson Silva in their rematch. Silva is like a heavyweight in the clinch, he has world class submissions via the Noguieras, much more accurate striking, and overall a better grappler than Franklin. The only other avenue is a puncher's chance, and that isn't a great thing to hope for.

Franklin didn't even review their 1st fight for God's sakes, and I doubt he is even changing his training routine except for maybe knee blocking. The downside is if he tries to overblock the knees from the clinch Silva will release his dominant arm and pop him with an elbow to the head, and we know those hurt from the Lutter fight.

So if you have something to share about why you believe Franklin will straight-up beat Silva, share it up.

First off let me say that I think Anderson Silva is awesome and he is all the things you said he is, but he is also very much beatable. Personally I predict "The Spider" will win the fight via TKO late, but I can totally see Rich Franklin winning too. I think Rich can win in a number of ways. He can win by TKO. it's not always the better pure striker that wins the striking match. Rich has enough power that he could hurt Anderson bad. I could also see Rich winning by taking him down, getting good position, then GnP. I could even see a submission, though that one is fairly unlikely.

I still think Anderson will win though.

there is always a chance of winning in the stand up, if rich takes him down he will get triangle'd IMO and rich submitting A. Silva is about as likely as giant frogs invading the earth and doing the moonwalk while eating cinnamon bikini's.. in reverse... at 3 am... in their underwear...

Not sure why you are counting Rich out so quick. He's got great Standup, Submission and Wrestling skills. Some people are just ignorant in thinking that if you get beat once you're automatically a loser and will never win against the guy that beat you. Rich has all the tools to put Sylvia away but I like Sylvia too and think he's also a great fighter. Fight could go either way and I want Rich to win but won't mind seeing Sylvia as the champ neither. Both nice and Worldclass fighters...

I like franklin...therefore i think/hope he wins. Im just a fan i guess

I always stick by the fighters I like...even though their outclassed in any way. I'll never jump ship even though they get KTFO or submitted.

But yeh. I think Silva has Both the Striking and Ground Advantage

Well after there first fight i was saying to myself .. Franklin has a chance he could take them in a rematch he just got caught.. now after seeing anderson do what he does.. I really doubt Franklin could take him..

Silva looked so beatable against Lutter, but I guess he did just have knee surgery. Silva looked impressive in his next fight against Marquardt. I am keeping my fingers crossed for Rich.
I also think that Silva is looking so unbeatable, that people are going to really start rooting for him to get knocked out. Kinda like Matt Hughes was until he was knocked out. :)

Although I hope and believe that Anderson will take it, I happy that at least a few people believe in Rich, it makes it more exciting. Rich is a good fighter, clearly the second best UFC MW in my opinion, and usually exciting to watch, I like him. But Anderson just seems to be a little more of everything.

I don't think Anderson is unbeatable or anything, I would give Rich a chance if this was their first encounter. But with the way Anderson raped him last time and all the time he spent waiting for his broken nose to heal afterwards, it's got to be somewhere in the back of Rich's head... I don't think he will be able to fight with the kind of confidence he would need.

I really can't see Rich winning this. He's outclassed in striking AND on the ground.

I just don't get why Rich couldn't get out of the clinch. It looked like he wasn't even trying to get out of it. It was almost like Rich thought his knees would be harder than Silva's even though Silva had a full clinch.

Where does rich have an edge? I'll tell you, and it has nothing to do with his skills bc it's obvious rich cannot out strike or JJ silva. He is simply outclassed when it comes to fighting.

Here's where I think rich has the advantage - he's fighting in his hometown! Also, Silva is on his 3rd (technically 2nd) title defense. After a fighter has a couple successful title defenses, they start to slack in training and are less hungry. If rich doesnt make a statement on the 25th, you can be sure he will not get another title shot for a while and that's what he's thinking about when he's training. Silva has everything to lose, rich has everything to gain.

Don't get me wrong - this also puts a lot of pressure on Rich but it's mostly working in his favor.

Franklin may be able to take him down, keep top position, and either TKO or grind out a decision. That's his only way of winning. He has said it himself he doesn't have much power in his hands, so I definitely don't see him finishing the fight standing.

I think Franklin has the best GnPound of all the fighters that ASilva has had to smash, so that's definitely the way he'll win if he does.
I just wanna see them FIGHT!!!!

Three things I think of when I think of top fighters.

Will = Can take you a long way in anything you do, refusing to lose till you get the opportunity your looking for etc.

Ability = Another aspect of sports that is so key sometimes it can carry a fighter good ways into a career.

Commitment = The work a person puts into reaching there goals, to be able to recognize weaknesses and work to improve them.

Honestly most fighters only have 1 or 2 of these aspects going for them and still do well in MMA that said, each aspect will only take you so far and then you hit a peak or level and thats as far as you will get.
I see Franklin as having all of the traits above and so dose Silva. I look for this to be a much more competitive fight no matter who wins. Franklin is a smart fighter and make no mistake he's one of the top fighters that I feel CAN improve his game and has not "peaked" as far as his ability is concerned. I think he dose have the ability to improve his stand up and I unlike most, I think he has an edge in this fight mentally. Rich knows he had some holes he needed to fill and needs to advance his technique. Silva, well I’m not sure he feels the same way, he might just say "Im good to go as is" and that could lead to him being in the fight of his life.
IMO win or lose I think we will see a much improved Franklin now and I would not be so sure he's outmatched on the ground in fact if I was him I might want to try a few takedowns, with some G&P it could go a long way to slow Silva in the stand up. I dont think anyone will get caught in a sub though. And for gods sake stay out of the clinch as much as possible not just because of last fight but also Silva is just built to excel there with his lanky build and flexibility.

Exactly my perspective. GSP was a more technical striker than Matt Serra, yet look who got KTFO.

(Notice: I'm not drawing a comparison between Rich and Serra, I'm simply using an example of technique being thwarted by raw power).
