Scores for GSP Vs Kos fight - Were the judges right?

Scores for GSP after the fight was 30-27 once and 29-28 twice. Does it mean 2 judges actually gave a round to Kos?

Round winner gets 10 points and other person gets 9 points.

If you win 3 rounds, which i am sure GSP did, you get 30 points. If you win 2 rounds and lost 1, you get 29 points.

Which round, according to you, GSP lost? I think he won all 3 rounds.

Did the refs made a mistake? If i missed something, let me know

Two refs gave him the first round.
No, I think GSP won.

I don't understand how anyone could give him the first round though, considering it was only the final minute that Koscheck got the upper hand.

He did have the take down at the half way point i guess. It was around 2:30 when he reversed the position but wasnt doing ANY damange to GSP. When GSP was on top, he was doing some damages but Kos didnt do anything. As usual, all he was doing was lay and pray.

I don't know how they score a reversal...but it seems they score it higher than a takedown followed by control.

I think it was a 30-27 fight personally.

Demian Maia may be the Fred Astaire of jiu-jitsu, but it’s too bad Silva is the Gene Kelly of kicking everyone’s ass.

Round 1 could have gone either way, which is why it did.

I think one of the judge's for the 29-28 was good ole Cecil Peoples.

It was 30-27, GSP controlled 4 minutes of Round 1, koscheck had him for 1 minute. Perfect example of "stealing a round."

based on this, more scarier thought is, if Kos had got the take down in round 3, he could have even stole the win.

It is pretty bad that a good fight comes to "opinions" of 3 people when it goes to decisions.

That is why I hate the scoring system in the UFC. People like Kos can get takedowns (even though many times his actual takedown is impressive) and win fights even though they do NO damage. I am so glad that GSP owned him.

Also a perfect example of the flaws of a 10 points must scoring system in MMA.

Bring back knees strikes on grounded opponents.. Give me good arguments for not having them for crying out loud.
