Demetrious Johnson doesn't 'give a damn' who's next, plans to break UFC record

Hmm...the last time somebody said this was GSP (or media was saying it), then Ben Henderson openly, followed by the ex-lhw champion. GSP went into self retirement, Bendo got a rude awakening, and the ex-lhw self evicted himself. Will DJ break the long standing record. I say TJ cut another 10lbs and go down. DJ fought two rematches and possibly a third. The division is too stale.

Demetrious Johnson's ambitious goal is to break Anderson Silva's record of 10 consecutive world title defenses, and the UFC's flyweight champion doesn't care who he has to go through to reach it.

"I don't give a damn," Johnson told MMA Junkie. "I just want to fight."

Mighty Mouse already beat most of the 125-pound's top-five fighters, including number-one ranked Joseph Benavidez, who also hopes for a shot at the seemingly untouchable kingpin of the division. It would be his third one after a close split decision in 2012 and a knockout defeat in 2013.

"People are saying Joseph might be next, which is fine," Johnson said. "I'm a competitor. ... I want to fight whoever is going to get me to that number - breaking the record for title defenses."

Johnson won the inaugural flyweight belt in 2012 and defended it seven times since. He has not displayed any flaws or weaknesses in the majority of his championship performances, which makes his ambitious goal a fairly realistic one.

Who would you like to see Johnson face next?

True story, Vince McMahon of the WWE really wanted to sign Henry Cejudo, first because he's Spanish, and Olympian and the WWE is desperate for a Spanish star and second he want's a "mighty mouse" type wrestler.

Anyways their really is no reason for Cejudo or Johnson to fight in Vegas, he never has before and he really never has to now. One guy likes Texas/Arizona/Mexico the other Washington/Canada so you would think booking fights in Texas, Toronto, and California shouldn't be a huge issue for the UFC.

As for Johnson breaking GSP's record, the UFC has put the handcuffs on him(because of Ronda) he likely would fight 5-6 times a year if he could but yeah I like him against Formiga and Benevidez with Cejudo being a pretty good fight for him.

Frankly I don't see the record as that big of a deal, ruling over a shallow division doesn't compare with the monsters GSP beat during his run.

GSP - 11
Anderson - 11
Jones - 9
Johnson - 8
Ronda - 7
Aldo - 7
Tito - 6
Hughes - 6

Johnson beating the record means nothing. He's the champion of the worst division in the UFC. Someone beating the record at LW, WW, MW or LHW would be something to talk about. Or Heavweight, but nobody's beating Brock Lesnar's all time record of most title defences.

Eh....I don't think the division is a joke at the very least they have an excellent crop of prospects.

Henry Cejudo, Sergio Pettis, Dustin Ortiz, Justin Scroggins, Ray Borg, Paddy Holohan, Willie Gates, Chris Beal and Kyogi Horiguchi.

That's more than the Light-Heavyweight, Bantamweight, and Heavyweight divisions combined. Those divisions are such recycling the same 10 regular fighters and 10 part-timers
