I agree he should be undefeated in the UFC. I had him beating Griffin on my unofficial scorecard

I just watched the fight, and even though I scored it 30-27 for Guida, I can accept that somone would say 29-28 with Aurelio winning the third round. He jabbed Guida in the face a few times and had that one good combination, while Guida mostly connected to other parts of Aurelio's body. So a judge who doesn't care about aggressiveness and just gives scores to punches to the head might have gone for Aurelio in that round.

However, the judge who thought Aurelio won two rounds was clearly either bribed or sleeping through the fight, and should be fired, seriously.

Was this really a split decision?

Buffer didn't name the judges, just said "30-27, 30-27, 29-28 for the winner by split decision....."

Usually they mention the judges names if it is a split decision. I always assumed he just accidentally mis spoke and said split instead of unanimous.

after watching the fight, I can maybe see him winning the third round, but I watched it a second time to see if there was any way to give him one of the first two rounds and it is just outrageous. I didn't see guida/thomas but I did see guida and griffin and I was sure he had won that one. Oh well. I am really starting to like the lightweight division. So many fighters to watch

The mispoke theory would make sense. Announcers are suppose to name judges in split decisions. So Buffer either forgot to name the judges or mispoke and I think that mispeaking is more likely. Or maybe he was playing ajoke on Guida just to mess with him since he gets robbed so often. I guess that is unlikely, I would have done it though. J/K

I also thought it sounded strange, but on UFC.com it says split decision in the results also. Maybe Buffer screwed it up, and then they just wrote down what he said.
