Bustamante was probably the most underrated former UFC champion. The guy gets no props for demolishing Menne & schooling Matt Lindland. Bustamante was really, really good when he wanted to be. I don't know, he just never performed at that level when he went to Pride. He looked good at Shockwave 2005, but lost a split against Hendo.

Pride had screwy matchmaking, and titles were basically just props. Did Henderson ever defend his MW title? Because, I'm drawing a blank.

Actually no he hasn't. He won the title at PRIDE 33 so I guess he never got a chance to defend it before PRIDE was shut down Which sucks big time so I'm glad this bout with Hendo/Page is going down

MW in terms of 185. Sorry if I didn't specify that, cabby.

He beat Bustamante and then....nothing.

Im just gettin a mental image of Matt Hughes wearing Matt Serra as a belt....

And as for Damone's "question" no Hendo never defended the 185 crown in Pride, I really hated that about pride, the fact that they would have "non title fights" I mean I can understand in an open weight class tournament, But I mean common, if there in the same weight class then why not?!

Thank you for the answer. Man, Pride did a lot of stuff that was shady. People rag on Dana, and he deserves some of it, but at least he had champions defend their belts.

Gomi should've lost that LW title to Aurelio.

I don't know, I hardly kept up with title fights in Pride, because they are pretty much irrelevant. Pride pushed whoever they wanted to push. It was like, "Fedor is the champ, and there are other guys who held their belts."

well when gomi and wandy lost they both lost durning tournements which is why the belt wasn't up for grabs. but when they both had their rematches they both ended up beating their opponents and retaining their belts.

kinda just like if a title fight in the ufc was to go on but one of hte fighters didn't make weight, they would still fight but the title wouldn't be up for grabs cause it wouldn't be under title fight rules.
