could really go either way. If GSP was hungry for this fight id say him because every time that he really wants a win he gets it.

I picked BJ but I have this fight at about 50/50. I think GSP won the first one do to a crappy scoring format. BJ gassed, that was his fault but GSP didnt do anything but lay one him for the last two rounds. At least BJ inflicted alot of damage in round 1.

This for me is the fight i most wana see under 170.

Ive gone for GSP because i believe he has really grown from the loss, and will be hard to beat for anyone. But the point was also well made that 'on the night' would have alot to do with it.

Man would this be an awesome rematch or what? (that being said I think BJ should stay at 155). BJ in my opinion, is the only man that can beat Georges when Georges brings his A game, though i would still pick GSP to win if both fighters are at their best. I think the type of match would have bearing on the outcome too. Either way I still see GSP winning. BJ would have a much better chance in a 3 round match than in a 5 rounder (If it's for the belt).

Georges St. Pierre is the only guy out there that can match athleticism with BJ Penn step for step. Both these guys are just sheer forces of nature. However Georges is the naturally bigger man. All other things being basically equal (overall), size and strength really do matter. Also while I truly do believe that BJ has learned his lesson with conditioning and has improved that aspect, Georges is unreal and he can really push the pace and push BJ past his limit eventually. That's why I think a shorter fight is BJ's best bet. Both fighters have a puncher's chance.

It would be sick fight either way.

good post but i think gsp's athleticism is matched by bj's skill, not athleticism.

bj doesn't have raw power like gsp has, but he does have amazing technique.

I understand what you are saying and I kind of agree. While GSP is the stronger and more explosive of the two, BJ does have ridiculous flexibility (which in my mind counts somewhat toward athleticism). I do think that overall GSP is the slightly better athlete, but BJ is one of the only people that's in his league.

On the skill side of things, while Georges is no slouch when it comes to BJJ, he cannot match BJ in this area. However GSP's superior wrestling offsets this in the overall ground scheme of things. Standing and striking I think is really really close too. Both have a superb technique and a wide variety of weapons. Georges would probably get a bit of an edge as far as power goes here, though both fighters do it more with technique anyway, but BJ probably has the slightly faster hands.

Either way their talent and skill sets match up amazingly well.

Not exactly sure where Penn's at right now, but GSP has gotten better.
Either way, I'd love to see it.

I haven't seen there previous fight but I'll go with BJ. GSP did dominate Kos but couldn't finish him of. With BJ, you can't really waste chances like that.

I'd say GSP. Since the first fight, BJ Penn hasn't improved a gret deal, while GSP has improved by leaps and bounds.
