Should Anderson Silva Get A Title Shot??
I know A Silva is one hell of a damaja, and in my opinion, poses the biggest threat to Rich Franklin right now, but by giving a fighter who's had 2 fights in the UFC a title shot, isn't that alienating all the other fighters who've been fighting for years in the UFC with no shot???

I do and don't. I picked yes because he is the most talented contender in that division except maybe Marquardt. But who will be the better draw. No brainer to go with Silva. Silva may not have the experience in the UFC but he has it. I think it will be Franklin's toughest title defense yet. But he will walk away as a champion, hopefully not beating him so badly that he injures himself again.

Does he deserve it NO but who else other then Marquardt is a serious threat to Rich?
IMHO shutting Leben's fat mouth doesn't validate a title shot but understandably makes him an immediate fan favorite and a good PPV draw. Plus although he should have to fight another 2-3 guys to get a shot; he's already clearly the best striker in their MW division and striking is obviously Rich's ONLY flaw at the moment. Great fight.

The answer to this is yes, and the reason why that is, there is no one else. There are really only 2 other contenders at this point...Marquardt and Swick.
Marquardt wouldnt put up a challenge for Franklin, Marquardt is a good fighter but we're talking about Rich Franklin here, the most dominant middleweight in the world. Nates fight against Doerksen wasnt all that impressive, he got the takedowns but blanketed him the entire fight...he also showed his chin is vulnerable as well, Franklin would capitalize on that.
Mike Swick is on fire at this point theres no doubt, however his only remote competition at this point was Joe Riggs, he needs one more fight to earn that spot...if he beats the Crow, by all means he should be the #1 contender...before Anderson came to the UFC I always thought the Crow was the second best middleweight in the business....and look what Franklin did to him.
Anderson Silva is already proven, his past fight were against pretty good competition and he's just an all around good fighter. And thats enough to give him that shot, his fight against Leben? Pft, you put a guy with accurate, powerful punches against a guy that shoots in waving his hands around like an idiot and I can tell you who wins each time...and his knockout against old "Iron Chin" definitely sold his shot...only I didnt expect him to get it this soon.
It should be an awesome fight though.

They brought him in to even the division simple as that. Why put of a fight we all know is going to happen. Get it on and get it done with. Look at how mad everyone is that the GSP hughes fight was delayed. He fought riggs and gracie and then they dragged those fight's out so much. he only fought twice in 05 and only once so far in 06. I say why make us wait a year for something everyone wants to see.

Bingo, Franklin already demolished the second best (at the time) middleweight in the UFC in the Crow.
