This is ultimately what its come down to, Dana is pretty much turning the sport into his enterprise, and fans that arnt as well versed or hardcore about MMA and understand the level at which Fedor stands are jeopardizing a true legend so that the big man on the block(UFC) can make some extra dollars.

Personnally I dont care if Fedor comes to the UFC or not, he has nothing to prove to new fans who dont give a shit about his accolades and accomplishments. If the hardcores want to see him uphold his status as a legend and stay in the game well, then Bodog or who ever should be smart enough to give him better fighters.

This is like (lets say) Muhammad Ali going to the UK and having to fight Joe Crack a couple of times so the fans can get to know him better. Screw that shit, a true fighter shouldnt give a shit about how good he looks on the SpikeTv ads, he should worry more on his technique, match fitness and mental stability instead.

I actually would not like to see Fedor fight Randy (or whoever has the belt at the time) for his first fight if he signed with the UFC. Even though he is the almighty Lord Emperor Fedor, I still have a problem with anyone getting a title shot in their first ever fight in an organization (Maurice Smith, this means you... Just kidding I love Mo Smith). Fedor should have one fight with a tough mid-top tier guy first. I'm thinking Arlovski or Vera. If he wins that fight he gets the title shot. And if the opponent wins (*gulp*) than that person gets the title shot.

He may not get a title shot immediately. If he doesn't then his first fight will obviously be a very big, well known name and will garner a whole lot of respect from those who don't know who Fedor is. But I'm sure it's not out of the question in Dana's mind. He seems to have a lot of respect for Pride fighters. Henderson got an immediate title shot, and there's footage of Dana saying that a warmup fight wasn't neccesary for him and that he could jump into contention immediately. I'm just saying, that if anyone in the world deserves an immediate title shot in the UFC, it's Fedor Emelianenko. I think that may be a better chance of Fedor fighting someone like Arlovski first, but there is still a chance that he could fight the champ right once he enters.

I completely agree with you. Also I do have a problem with Dan getting a title shot in his first fight (despite the fact that "Hollywood" Dan Henderson is my favorite fighter). However with the "unification" angle it makes it easier to swallow. They could work the same angle with Fedor.

Look at the nightmare Dana created with the title shot he gave Matt Serra. Do you think he learned anything? LOL

Of course he did, and will not make the same mistake again. He screwed up one of the biggest PAYDAYS in the history of the UFC, if not all of MMA. When he let GSP get whacked by a no named scrub like Serra, he blew it big time. I think he would hardly do that again.

Dan Henderson is a Champion from another organization, and if you unify the belts there is no other way of doing it. If your HW Champion from Pride does not sign to the new organization, not much you can do but vacate the title, and disband the organization.

Dana's right, but Fedor's not the kind of guy that's difficult to hype. He already has a belt. He's dominated a world that guys like CroCop, Nogueira, Rampage, Shogun, Wanderlei and Anderson Silva, among others, have been a part of for a long time.

While Dana would have to build him up, it's not exactly a promo that would be challenging to put together. You could sit down with anyone in the UFC and ask them what they think about Fedor, everyone respects him, everyone knows who he is, and that kind of respect travels fast.

Plus, now that the UFC owns PRIDE's highlight footage, they can show the tape of Fedor dominating everyone from CroCop to Zuluzinho.

If Dana is using the mainstream's ignorance as an excuse not to sign him, or to let him slip through his fingers, he's a f*cking idiot. Fedor coming to the UFC would be the biggest event in the history of the sport so far.

I agree 100%. Fedor should not HAVE to have a warm up fight. He has defeated more great fighters than any champ in the UFC and deserves to fight for the title immediately.

The only situation I could imagine where he wouldnt get an immediate title shot is if HE requested a warm up to get used to the cage and the UFC environment first.

SERIOUSLY?! You think Dan Henderson could beat Fedor? Did you see the Hendo/Nog fight? Henderson is great, but is much to small to take on Heavyweights, especially the best in the world.

How can so many not be impressed with Fedor??? Have you guys actually watched his matches or are you just looking at the names on his resume? The guy has not only beat the best guys in the world, but he did it in DOMINATING fashion. I am by no means saying he is unbeatable, but how can you not be impressed with you watch his fights with Nog, CroCop, Hunt, Coleman, Randleman, Goodridge, and Herring?

I actually agree that to hardcore fans like us it would be the biggest thing that could possibly happen at this point to sign Fedor. But to MOST fans of the UFC, they would probably be more excited by a Forrest Griffin fight than a Fedor fight.

kinda like how he's building up dan henderson to fight quinton jackson for hte unification belt? doesn't* sounds like a lot of sense, he's making it sound like Fedor is a nobody in this sport just cause he isn't in the ufc.
