Yeah well we have the best universities in the world. People come from all over to attend college here because their higher education sucks.

I work with a couple people who got their PhD in China and they are about as smart/influential/and demonstrate the same leadership qualities as a Bachelor's. They can't find jobs no matter how hard they try.

That is true... But our graduate school education is not mainstream at all... What I mean to say is we cant brag about how our universities are the best if they are only educating less than 1% of the population at the PhD level...

There were only 12 people in my masters program and only two of us finished the program for our batch..

I guess what I want for the country is to have a stronger public education system.. One that boosts our youth to be internationally aware citizens who contribute intellectually , not just economically in some routine job. I want not just the top 1% of the minds getting a great education, but also at the grassroots level as well..

hehehe.. this is so far out of topic from the casual mma fan not knowing Fedor...

Those are all opinions but I believe soccer is such a great sport because it takes some patience & brains to understand it. Soccer like MMA in my opinion are similar to a chess match. It's about breaking down your opponent over the course of the match, trying to find weakness or holes in they're defence & capitalize on them. I enjoy soccer over say football simply because I can't stand all the stoppages like tv timeouts, and time in between plays. Baseball too. That is by far thee most boring sport in history. Sit on the bench & wait till your up to bat? Thats retarded. Stand in the field, in hopes that just maybe a ball will come to you? The reason why the baseball season is so long is because it's basically no contact, & even fat out of shape guys well into they're 40's & 50's can still play in hopes to break a record. Soccer also doesn't succeed in the US because they have no time outs, therefore sponsors are getting any $$$. Lemee guess PLAYA, you probably have Allen Iverson, Michael Vick, PacMan & Latrell Sprewell poster up in your bedroom? Also, I do admit I was partially wrong in saying MOST Americans don't like soccer, because over the past, say, 15 years it's more popular amongst kids up till the age of 16 than football/baseball/basketball combined. So with that, I retract my last comment & apologize because I totally forgot about the demographics & facts. So I guess both of our retarded theories were wrong? Also US basketball isn't as good as it once was because everyoneone wants to be dope & watches too much Streetball & when it comes down to it, most of them rather look dope(or hot or pimp etc) & lose than not look dope & win. Bird wasn't dope or dennis johnson or john stockton....
I played soccer when I was younger along with basketball, baseball, and football. Most of the people who play soccer in this country are not very promising athletes. It is basically a bunch of dwarfs with little athletic talent which is why they aren't playing baseball, basketball, or football and thus can be the majority since most people aren't exceptional athletes. Playing them soccer is about as fun as baseball watching them soccer has very little highs and doesn't allow for the instant excitement very often that can happen at any time in baseball. It doesn't have the history in this country that baseball has also. I would like to know who these obese 50 year olds are in major league baseball.

To answer your question I don't have any posters on my wall. I am not really a huge basketball fan I watch it if there is nothing on or if an exciting offensive team is playing. Football, hockey, and MMA are my favorite sports to watch. Now go watch someone kick a ball back and forth across mid field for an hour before anything happens since you find it so entertaining and stop making all these silly posts.

I guess youd get pretty offended if I said Football can be summed up like this: Run. Throw. Catch. Fall. Commercial.

Not going to talk about soccer or politics, sorry. Well maybe: I played soccer, I have traveled, am tolerant and don’t think I am better than anyone because I was lucky to be born in a certain place. That out of the way- let’s talk MMA:

I just watched several of Fedor’s fights online. He did not deserve that loss against Kohsaka it was indeed a fluke.

Sometimes he pulls out of bad situations on the ground- and I will come back to that shortly.

Seems the biggest names he has fought have been: Cro Cop, Noguiera, Sobral, maybe Coleman, Randleman, and Herring. In the case of Cro Cop, Noguiera, and Sobral we are looking at wins by decision, not decisive victories.

Back to the bad situations: Sometimes the position in the ring played a role, i.e. using the ropes. Then again I think many times the opposing fighter couldn’t capitalize on the position, and let it go. Of course against Randleman Fedor totally reversed a bad situation in an amazing move.

There really are only 2 possibilities:
1. He rises to the occasion, depending on the fighter.
2. He is going to get his first real loss against someone in the UFC.

It is also my opinion that Randy would not let Fedor reverse a bad situation as easily as Fedor has in some fights in the past. If Randy gets Fedor down, Randy will most likely capitalize. As I was saying before, if Mir gets his head out of his butt and back into the ring he would also capitalize on the ground. Sylvia may also be a really, really tough fight for Fedor (heaven help us if Tim has another title reign...), Arlovski would go down, Nog would lose again, Herring would crash, and CroCop would probably lose again. Cabbage would be an awesome punching bag for Fedor, and past that where did Brandon Vera disappear to?

sorry about the tangent.

You forgot Arona, Hunt, Fujita has never been THAT bad either.

You have to realize not every fight is going to end up with a KO or sick sub. Many many fights go to decision, even ones with the worlds best fighters. I also wouldnt agree that most of his fight "just" went to decision and werent very "desicive". He absolutely dominated #2 and #3 in Nog and CC and those went to dec.

The not so decisive decisions were mostly his RINGS fights but those were a long time ago, but still, he kicked some ass.

Now as for who can really take him, well Im not gonna fully say Randy because of his last two outings, but I guess he has the closest shot. I believe it Mirko shows up again then maybe hell deserve a rematch.

PS: Tim sucks when he has the belt

UFC fans will never have to know Fedor

I don´t think that Fedor will ever fight in the UFC.
As Dana said about the negosiations with Fedor "These guys are crazy."
Two words - New Money
If he can fight in Russia for plenty of cash, with the Russian President in the first row - so be it.
I think it´s more likely that there will be some crazy russian oilmagnat, that will pour big bucks into a "new" federation and start to realy make some loud MMA noise, than Fedor competing in the UFC.

this is utter cock shit. im sure the general ufc fans don't know who the hell dan henderson is, but he debuts in a world title fight. im sure they didnt know who vanderlei silva was, but dana was trying his damned hardest to book a silva/chuck fight.

fedor is an absolute monster, and even if he wasnt, being the pride heavyweight champion alone is enough to let fans know how good he is. it wouldnt be hard to put fedor against a top ufc fighter like andrei or sylvia and for the fight promo show how fedor got his name from destroying prides world class heavyweights.

sure from a marketing prospective the general fans won't be that interested in an unknown no matter how good they are. but if he's fighting a top draw it wouldnt really matter; roger heurta has been drawing fans for quite a while and hes been fighting unknowns. and couldnt dana just put some pride events on tv showcasing fedors skills now that he owns pride?

I only have a couple of things here but Henderson is putting up his belt to get the title shot in UFC. It was decided I think BEFORE they BKed PRIDE.

I also think he wants to hedge his bets with FEDOR, and NOT give him the shot until he has him locked in to UFC. Pretty smart move on Dana's part but I can see your frustration.

By the way (and I am going to get KILLED for saying this) I THINK American UFC fans do know Henderson better because he has been introduced to them at an UFC event, and well he is an American.

Now that I think of it, FEDOR MIGHT be holding out for a title shot right off the bat, and the rest of this is a smoke screen.

I will say this.... Dana has gone on record saying the MAIN reason for buying PRIDE was for the LIBRARY of fights. He COULD show FEDOR if he wanted to.
