Pretty good interview. He's pretty honest here. Talks about how much he was partying, and how he should never have beaten Gustafsson after the amount of partying he was doing. Pretty crazy stuff.

Be nice if Helwani wasn't such a brown noser. I suppose DW shot him down a while back when he actually tried to be a decent journalist and he's just been a fan journalist ever since. Interviews are too easy and dont challenge the guests at all.

I like how Jones says he's a "8 time world champion with the UFC" inside the 1st minute.

Is that like a big F.U. to Chael for claiming Holly Holm isn't a 14 time boxing world champion?

Watching the rest, bblz.

I am not sure if he learned anything or not. One comment I found telling, was when Ariel asked him how he felt when he found out about the pregnant woman being hurt. His first response was I thought I might be going to jail for the rest of my life. Wondering about the unborn baby's well being was his second concern.

Sounds like he does have some animosity towards the UFC, so I wonder how that will go.

I've a psychology degree and I'm very good at picking up on when someone is lying. He was lying through his god damn teeth nearly the entire time. You can tell whether someone is lying if they seem to be constructing a story versus remembering something and what their body language is like, the whole time he was lying. He was clearly high or drunk and ran the **** away and really sucked at lying about it. He was on his phone at a red light then all of a sudden he's in oncoming traffic, that was the most bs story.

This is why Helwani is such a poor journalist. He lets people bullshit their way through interviews and doesn't challenge them whatsoever. 40 mins of brown nosing Jon jones is what that was. The only good thing in it was jones challenging the UFC brass. Nice to see that

Apparently in a point of the video, I only saw the transcription on Combate site, he says he got blinded by panic and didn't know what he hit, a car or a truck... Funny his blindness only prevented him from checking if someone was hurt, but not from coming back to his car and running away just to save his face/reputation/career, whatever. Guy even admits he was texting and driving, smh...

PS: Not mentioning he still wants to deny he didn't go back for his cash even when there's video evidence clearly showing what happened. What a brave face...

Ariel is a lot smarter and better at getting people to reveal things than people give him credit for. Which is why a lot of people don't like Ariel, they want interviewers that make them look good, rather than interviewers who will cross examine them indirectly.

At the end, when Ariel asks Jones how his finances are, what he's really asking is if Jones is an addict. If Jones is a drug addict his response will be: "I'm underpaid, the UFC is screwing me, I can't afford diapers for my kids(since I blew all my cash on drugs)". Money is always a hot topic for drug addicts.

Jones' cool response indicates he's probably clean.

You can see how Ariel asks a lot of non personal questions leading up to that point, he gets Jones to relax. Its a classic strategy that con artists, investigative journalists and social engineers use. They get someone to answer questions that are non threatening and non personal, then they throw in a question that is somewhat personal and threatening, and a lot of the time someone will answer it because they already asked the previous questions.

Also notice how throughout the interview they're walking, then when Ariel asks a certain question they stop walking and stand still. I never went to journalist school but I would guess there's some type of strategy and coordination behind it. There's also probably some type of planning that went into selecting that specific place or backdrop for an interview.

Ariel is a lot better at what he does than people realize.

Not sure if Jones pausing at some points is deception or lies on his part. He does the same thing when someone asks him to talk about his deceased sister. Its more an indication that he's being overwhelmed with emotion, I think. It doesn't show on the outside, but I think it is there.
