News on Fedor...

News on Fedor...

I was listening to the podcast that tj Desantis and Josh Gross do, they had some interesting info on the Fedor negotiations--

Here's some of the highlights--

*UFC and Fedor did not come to a deal.

*Fedor feels like the UFC is not giving him the respect he deserves.

*Josh Gross gave some more insight as to why Fedor is so adamant that he be allowed to fight in the Russian Combat Sambo. He has done this for most of his life AND he stood face to face with Russian President Putin and promised he would continue to represent Russian Sambo.

*UFC is interested in Fedor but not a lot of the baggage (that's my word) that comes with him. I took this as meaning they were not very happy about the demands his manager is making.

*Fedor likes the IFL and is considering it because it would allow him to bring along his "Red Devils" team" and fight and coach. They would also be more likely to let him fight Sambo.

*Fedor knows his number one status is being discussed and he is aware that he needs to fight the best fighters to maintain it.

*Fedor is not going to bow to the money, he has enough.

*Fedor's manager gave Dana a proposal for the UFC to consider. They will give the UFC ten days to look it over.

*Josh Gross says its his gut feeling that this deal will not happen.

sorry to say it, but fedor is missing the boat. he cannot possibly retain his status as #1 hw in the world if he fights in another organisation imo. i believe if he decides to take a different route with his carrer he will be the one person who people talk about years and years from now and wonder what would have been, and what could have been, and if he really was as good as people say he was. there is a fork in the road and he could end up being thought of 2 very different ways depending on which route he takes.

Top 5 fav. fighters (in order)

1. GSP
2. Franklin
3. Lesnar
4. Forrest
5. Big Nog

At least if he went to the IFL, we could see him for free all the time.

What the hell is wrong with Dana and the people trying to "negotiate" with Fedors team. It sounds like they are being difficult for the sake of being difficult. Just let Fedor do ******* Sambo for christ sakes, i don't see the big god damn deal.
This is seriously getting rediculous. They are considering passing up possibly the best Mixed Martial Artist the world has ever seen.

I disagree, I actually quite thoroughly enjoy watching IFL and do quite like the team concept. Also you get Bas Rutten commentary which simply can't be beat. I know the fighters aren't nearly on the level with UFC, but give it time, think back to the beginning days of UFC and Pride. not exactly stallar fighters there either(on the overall).

Anyway I think the UFC should let him do Sambo. Fedor is an icon in Sambo and without letting him compete in that i don't see a deal going through.

On one hand Fedor could become more and more irrelevant in the world of MMA if he doesn't sign with the UFC. On the other hand who's to say that UFC will be the biggest and "best" organization a few years from now. It is conceivable that another organization could grow to rival and even surpass the UFC. Most likely it would be HEROs. They have the backing of K1, which is a colossal uber-organization with financial backing that even the UFC doesn't have. They already boast some big names and the addition of Fedor would add big time credibility. There is a big world outside of the USA and the popularity of MMA is still higher in Japam. While Fedor may never become a star in the USA without the UFC, he can continue to be a star outside of the USA without the UFC just fine.

Fedor doesn't need to prove that he's the best to most people on this forum, he just needs to prove he's the best to the people who don't already know who he is. I think he wants to do that, but he doesn't want to change his lifestlye (even if it's only very little). I'm sure he has enough money to live extremely comfortably. I don't see how Dana could let this slip through his fingers.

Fedor is a very proud Russian, the Sambo thing is not something he will budge on. I think the bottom line is, the UFC can live without Fedor, but Fedors reputation as the best p4p in the world cannot live without the UFC.
