Another Franklin strategy: Take Silva down and pray for an illegal upkick.

The only way I see him winning this fight is taking Silva down and the UFC allowing head butts. Seriously I don't see how he can win, even if he puts him on the ground I don't believe he can control him well enough to do any real damage.

Hopefully I'm wrong and it turns out to be a great fight and not completely one-sided, but I gotta put the paycheck down on Silva dominating.

Franklin's game is his strength and conditioning, but he uses his standup as a conduit to use those skills. He's not a guy like Tito Ortiz, who uses his ground and pound to utilize his strength, but as many know he wants to give the fans a knockout. That's going to run him into a lot of problems versus Silva, because Silva is leaps and bounds ahead of Franklin in the standup game (In my opinion, of course). For all the fights Franklin has won for being a muscle bound giant of a MW, it does nothing but put him in slow motion when compared to a fluid and quick fighter like Silva. If they stay on their feet, Silva is going to pick him apart and eat him for breakfast.

Because of that, I think Franklin is going to look back to the Lutter fight and hope to mirror some of what Travis did. That is, take Silva down, out wrestle him, and ground and pound. Franklin has to get Silva down, never stop pounding on him, and try to obtain full mount or side mount. If he can get Silva in a position like that, he's got a good shot of using his size and strength to hold him there and beat on him.

If that backfires, than as crazy as it sounds, I'd take Silva back into the clinch and try to imitate what Randy did recently versus Gonzaga. I know that's nearly insane considering their first match up, but I'd try my best to get Silva pinned in chest-to-chest, hold him to the fence, and dirty box him. Throw elbows, shoulder butts, short punches, whatever you can tuck in their to cut him up and hurt him. What Franklin can't do is leave enough room for Silva to have a hay day with his knees. He has to get Anderson on the fence and mash him there.

If Rich can't score a takedown and then get full or side mount, or can't hold Anderson to the fence, he's going to get mutilated yet again. Personally, I don't see either happening considering how well Anderson moves and how slick he can be on the ground, but Franklin has a shot at winning in those ways whereas anything else is pretty much a death sentence.
Sounds like Randy V Gonzagag. lol

I have a great gameplan. All Franklin needs to do is outstrike Silva for the majority of the match, get silva to the ground with a scissors takedown, and then apply an ankle lock FTW.

No problem.

Franklin could bring Takase with him. Silva might shriek in terror, and run away.

Before the Nate fight, I would have thought that Rich would TD Silva, avoid the subs and sweep, and ground and pound his way to victory.

However, even that looks bleak after watching Silva tool the 7-time Pancrase champion. I have a hard time envisioning Rich winning, especially seeing as how dominant Silva has been since his debut.

I don't see Franklin being able to beat Silva. I personally think that Silva was right when he said "I will be champion for many years" . The guy is a machine and I'm predicting we will see him mess with Franklin a little bit, like the last fight when he was screwing around throwing those huge spin kicks.

Franklin could possibly take him down and win on the ground. Lutter could have finished Silva in their fight if he was smarter. While Silva's BJJ is good it isn't top notch. He isn't exactly going to tap a top notch guy (He needed the upkick to get Lutter and it still took about half of the round for him to get it in). Silva will win this fight standing but if Franklin gets him to the ground and avoids getting swept I think he'll can win.

Chances of this happening IMO 5%

Lutter is about 50 times better on the ground than Rich Franklin and Silva submitted him so I think Franklin fans might want to refrain from using that fight to discuss Silva's alleged weaknesses.
