oh and don't forget about channel surfing! you always run the risk of dislocating your thumb when changing channels.

we are animals and its pretty much in our instinct to fight each other. alot of people fight just as much as professional fighters or even more so. of course they run the risk of injury, you run the risk of injury doing DIY, but that hasnt been banned. these fighters are proffesionals and know exactly what their doing, its not like they're getting bums of the streets to fight for us. mma just like any form of martial arts is a competitive sport just like football, hockey or even chess. there are well established rules which look out for the fighters safety. sure there'll be injuries but the fighters are well aware of the risks involved.

if these people don't like MMA then don't watch it, its as simple as that. i think hot dog eating contests are vile, disgusting and shouldnt be considered a sport but you don't see me writing up pertitions trying to get it banned.

Has been described as 'human cockfighting' by people who don't have a clue. It's also commonly described as a sport, but she missed that out.

"It can cause traumatic brain injury, joint injuries and fractures."

Name a contact sport that doesn't have a risk of these.

It's no surprise that a medical association want to ban it, it causes injury. They can FO though.
lol that is hilarious about "has been described as"
watch this: Pizza is human cockfighting.
Now we can all say that pizza has been described as human cockfighting. You can describe anything however the ****you want but that doesnt mean it will hold water in an argument. And what about this premature death and brain damage bull$hit. Ridiculous. No facts or examples, just bold lies in their attempt to get rid of combat sports.

No shit, its so old! And then they call it "Ultimate Fighting" and "Cage Fighting", freakin morons! It is MMA, mixed martial arts. If you still call it Ultimate Fighting and are talking about human cockfighting then maybe you should get updated on the sport instead of watching UFC3 again and deciding that the sport is too brutal. F*** the BMA!

"Human cockfighting?" Damn, I thought this was 2007......not 1995!! This dumba** statement has been way overused over the years to describe a sport that it doesnt apply to.

Last time I checked, cockfighting was a forced fight to the death. When's the last time anyone has been forced "against their will" to train and fight? To my knowledge, that has never happened. I'm pretty sure these "Athletic Commissions" need to quit being such pu**** and just accept MMA and boxing for what they are. If you don't like it, ok, I could care less. I do like it and I don't want to be told, by someone who has no clue what's going on, what to watch and what is bad for me. I'm sure everyone here, as well as all the fighters making a good living off of this sport would agree.

As far as I'm concerned, this "Athletic Commission" can take their ideas and fears and shove 'em.

Well if Sky News and other major news networks broadcast in The U.K are crappier papers then so be it.

the coverage this story had over here in the UK was widespread with 3hr long debates on a large sport based Radio station named Talksport with over 2.5million listeners daily.

It seemed Rupert Murdoch and his chums had it in for UFC, but failed to mentioned their boss is making money from UFC as in order to watch UFC you need to subscribe to a Tv channel called Bravo, and to get this channel you need a tv package called Sky Entertainment... now who owns Sky?

The main email address of The BMA thats dealing with this issue on Boxing (mainly) and MMA is

This is the parliamentary unit.

Please help with me and get the message across to these guys with facts and figures, not aggressive and uneducational emails like: your mothers a whore!

More informative emails aiming to highlight the benefits and far less injury rate than any of the other major sports in The UK including my beloved Soccer, Formula1 car racing, MotoGP, Rugby... more injury rates in these sports.
Infact within the past several weeks three football players have died, well Soccer players as you guys would say... due to over exhaustion and heart failure.

The thing that pisses me right off,

Ban it why? what about the people that want to be involved in it? If you don't want to be a part of it then don't be, If you don't want to be a fan then don't be it's simple but why do they think they need to ban it? They have no idea what there talking about.
