Anderson Silva/Rich Franklin vs Dan Henderson for unified MW title..

Anyone else see this happening in the not so distant future? The LHW belts are the first to be unified and I have a feeling that the MW belts are soon to follow. Dan Henderson is getting a lot of hype from the UFC mainly because he holds both the MW and LHW belts of Pride.

If he can get through Rampage, I can definitely see him going up against the winner of Rich/Anderson, for his next match, which would certainly cement his legacy in MMA.

I can honestly say that I think Dan Henderson would have the best chance out of anyone in the MW division in dethroning Silva. I mean, Anderson Silva has a Muay Thai base like Wanderlei (definitely better striker overall than Wanderlei though) but he has the ground game of the Nogueiras which Dan has fallen to twice.

This match-up could be EXTREMELY competitive and would certainly be the best MW bout we've seen in ages.

That is if Anderson can get through Rich again first.

Dan Henderson vs. Anderson Silva...in the cage. That would kick all kinds of arse.

notoriousviv has a little shameless behaviour in the past
The Rampage/Henderson fight puts the UFC in a Catch-22 situation. If Hendo loses to Rampage, then the casual fan is not going to want to watch a perceived loser get another title shot against a seemingly more dominant champion. If Henderson wins, then he's going to be tied up fighting at LHW for a while, and people are going to forget or just not care about the Pride WW title any more.

True, true. More evidence of Pride's weird booking, I suppose. Don't get me wrong, the last Hendo vs. Wandy bout was a good fight, but that combination Henderson threw just screwed the MMA universe up big-time.
Too bad he just didn't stay at middleweight instead of beating on the light heavies.
Then again, it was pretty fun watching him beat on the light heavies.

Hendo probably will (and should) defend his Welterweight (UFC Middleweight) Title against Silva/Franklin after UFC 75, Win or Lose. If he loses both fights I wonder which division he'll stay in? The Light Heavyweight division is much more stacked and exciting than the Middleweight, which is why the UFC may want him in the Middleweight division to spice things up a bit more. Although I'm sure Henderson would much rather stay in the Light Heavyweight division where the competition is.

I can see this fight happening and I think it will be exciting, but I also see Dana putting Henderson up against his strongest competition so he doesn't have to wait 6 months for title shots....then again maybe that is what DW wants? I mean he has done that to us twice with the damn WW belt.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing, if Dan wins or loses the LHW then I think the next move should def be the MW divison. The only thing I think he is going to have to over come is the cage....

Firstly, I don't think Anderson is a better striker than Wanderlei. As good has Anderson has been, he doesn't have Wanderlei's aggression. I don't know, I don't see them on the same level. Plus, Wanderlei has alot more power with his size advantage.

I think that if Henderson comes down to unify the title at 185, he will smash either Rich or Anderson. Rich and Nate are great fighters, but Dan isn't going to be as easily dominated as they were.

Personally, I think that Henderson is #2 in the world at 185 (following Lindland), and I don't think Anderson Silva is a good as him, or Filho, or Kang, or Misaki. Granted, that's just my opinion, but I think that there are alot of problems for Anderson in that matchup.

Even if Henderson loses to Rampage and then loses to Silva/Franklin, I'm not too worried about his future. There aren't many fighters I feel comfortable saying that about, but Dan seems to have this Randy Couture-like quality that allows him to keep bouncing back and getting better, even after losses.
Rampage vs. Henderson is a tough call, but I have a hard time seeing Anderson beating Dan. Henderson will be too hard to hold down a la Marquart and too strong in the clinch to get KO'd a la Franklin. If he gets Anderson on his back, he'll be much more dangerous from that position than Lutter was. Lutter was exhausted and didn't have Henderson's superior wrestling, so he was eventually caught. Henderson would have to make a big mistake to get caught like that.
