UFC 75 : My Thoughts And Predictions
I am going to give my predictions for the 3 main fights.
Dan Henderson vs Quinton "Rampage" Jackson
First thing, who do you think the crowd will cheer? A lot of people don't like Rampage..
Anyways,i think it is complete bs to promote this as a UFC vs Pride fight. Champion vs Champion? Ok, sure, this is fine by me. But UFC vs Pride? Rampage had 2 fights and now he is the UFC?
It's a Pride vs Pride fight to determine who the uncontested, undisputed LHW OF THE WORLD truly is. For the first time, Bruce Buffer will be saying "this fight is for the LHW title of the world" without lying.
PREDICTION
Rampage, by GnP
A lot of people here like to point out that Dan is an incredible fighter, and that rooting for him is a sign of MMA knowledge since he is completly unknown to US fans.
If we brake each part of the fight, Rampage is favorite..
Striking : Rampage is better. You can say anything u want about Dan's right hand, it's as strong as Rampage.. the difference is that Rampage also has a left hand. Unless Dan seriously improved the way he strikes, footwork, stance etc, Rampage is better in any aspect of the striking game.
Advantage : Rampage
Takedown attempts : Rampage is very hard to takedown, he is big and has a good base. Randleman could not take him down, and even if Dan doesn't have the same kind of takedowns, i don't see Dan taking Rampage down from striking range.
Rampage on the other hand, can probably takedown Dan rather easily. Dan is pretty solid, but Rampage is just too strong.
Advantage : Rampage
Clinch : Rampage is stronger, bigger, but Dan is, in my opinion, smarter, and technically better. If Rampage is up against the cage, i would not be surprised to see Dan delivering heavy shots or taking Rampage down.
If Dan is up against the cage, i dont know if Rampage is any good at dirty boxing, but i know he can slam people down.. hard.
Advantage : None, small edge to Dan.
Ground : Dan on the bottom, he's crazy at escaping and getting back up or reversing. This was a long time ago, but against Arona, he kept reversing Arona, a ADDC fighter, after getting pounded and mounted, choked..
But Rampage can deliver hard GnP, and because of short rounds of 5 minutes, i don't think Dan will have any chance at getting anything done from the bottom.
If Dan is on top, that is the big question mark of this fight. Dan is pretty good at keeping the fight down, and delivering enough action to let the fight on the ground. I haven't seen much of Rampage on the bottom, but i know he's not going for subs. I assume he will just hold Dan or try to stand back up.
Both fighters don't really have great submission skills, and they both have good submission defense, so i doubt submissions will be a factor in this fight.
Advantage : Rampage. His GnP is better than Dan.
I think this fight will be close, but if there is any way Dan will win this, It's on a UD.
Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic vs Cheick Kongo
Mirko Cro Cop, by TKO
A lot of people dropped down the Cro Cop bandwagon after his loss to Gonzaga, and this fight is very important for Mirko.
I picked Mirko to win, but this one is hard to pick for me. Cheick Kongo is big, and he is a good striker.
Very few of Cro Cop's opponent, Pride and UFC, were strikers like Kongo. He is big, strong, complete, and he is hungry.
Cro Cop's last striker(Gonzaga is not a striker) was Silva, and he was tailor made for Cro Cop, who dismantled him with a LHK finish.
But now, Kongo is a whole different story. He's not going to run into Cro Cop straight jabs, and he is certainly not going to stay square and wait to get LHK in the head.
I think this fight will be very interesting, probably even more than Rampage vs Hendo.
I think Cro Cop is very very ready, he is a very proud person, and he wants to show that his Gonzaga loss was a fluke. He seems very pissed off about loosing, and a pissed off Mirko is not something you want to have in front of you.
He might have to watch out about being taken down.. Kongo trains with Rampage's team, and he might surprise CC by pounding him a little bit to win rounds and damage Mirko before standing and striking.
But other than that, i think CC will win this.
Bisping vs Hamill
Bisping, by KO.
I have never really watched TUF shows, but i have seen some parts and a few episodes of that season.
Bisping has the potential of being a great fighter, there is no question about that. Is he up there yet? This fight will tell us.
Bisping is a good striker, but does he has the tools to stop Hamill?
Hamill has no stand up, and i don't care what they showed on Countdown to UFC 75(actually it was funny), Hamill is not a striker at all. That retarted superman punch they showed was so lame, i'd like to see him do that to Bisping.
But what Hamill has is that agressive wrestling approach, something that is very hard to get away from. But i do think Bisping has what it takes to stop takedowns, and also to punish Hamill for trying.
I think Bisping will knock out Hamill, in the first round.
And as a sidenote, for future Hamill interviews... PUT SOME FREAKINGS CAPTIONS. I dont understand half of what he says. It's great that he is making signs for the deaf, but i don't understand them..
