Cropcop always does shabby in new orgs. eventually he gets a good wind and goes on a win streak. Same thing happened in K-1 and PRIDE. So still the same old Mirko just smarter this time around He'll be ready everyone don't worry

I don't think Assuerio Silva did enough ground and pound. He kept advancing to side mount and then got stuck there. Instead of Lay and Pray he did some Lay and Hug.

If Cro Cop softens Kongo up with some leg kicks I think getting some GnP in would be good. Kongo is not a threat on the ground and Cro Cop won't waste time and advance to half guard or side control and try to get a submission like Assuerio. He could put a beating on Kongo from inside the guard after he pops some ribs with his kicks.

Exactly what I said in my topic, Cro Cop has some NASTY guillotine chokes.

Assuerio was beaten up and gassed, thats why he couldnt do anything on the ground. Mirko isnt the best ground fighter but he still has some skills. I could see him sitting in Kongo's guard and smashing his face in.

I am guessing he will not have too, and that he will knock Cheik out/tko in the 2nd.

I don't think he will go for the takedown, but i think if he knocks Kongo down then he won't hesitate to move in to pound him out.

Demian Maia may be the Fred Astaire of jiu-jitsu, but it’s too bad Silva is the Gene Kelly of kicking everyone’s ass.

I've picked Cro Cop via first round TKO. Realistically, with all of Cro Cop's experience, that's the way it should go. I mean, he's fought the best of the best in the world. He's fought people like Kongo before.

That's where my logic points me, but I almost decided to pick Cro Cop via first or second round submission. If it were me, my gameplan would be to take advantage of Kongo's nearly non-existent ground game. I wouldn't even bother trading strikes with him knowing that his ground game is as poor as it is. I've said this before, too. I realize Cro Cop isn't a ground wizard either, but it's doesn't take a BJJ champion to put a person with no BJJ experience in an armbar or triangle.

I actually thought about starting a thread about this, because everyone is talking about this crazy stand up war. Dana has said openly it will be a kickboxing war and I thought, "I bet CroCop takes this to the ground!" Of course he likes to stand and pick his strikes but I wouldnt be suprised at all if he takes this one to the ground.

I don't quite get the point of your post. Where did I say Kongo has a better ground game than CC?
Sorry I thought you said Kongo's ground game is better than CC's, but you said Silva. That may be so bjj wise, but I think CroCop has really good GnP and all Kongo was doing vs Silva was holding him down. Watch CroCop vs Wanderlei to see how good he is from the top.
