Cody Garbrandt says Joseph Benavidez, Lance Palmer are now training with 'the enemy'

I had a feeling he was a loyal individual when he stood up to Conor. Of course I think Artem vs Cody would be a fun fight. I have to agree with his sentiments here though.

Which team are you a part of... If they're training over there then they're not really 100% are they now... They're merely looking out for themselves. Faber as the head of the camp should be actively looking for a full time trainer to prevent a future exodus.

Don't count on catching Cody Garbrandt doing some cross-training at Team Elevation in Colorado.

The Team Alpha Male standout watched his teammate and former UFC bantamweight champion T.J. Dillashaw leave the camp and now more big names are testing the waters.

"F**k no. I would never go to Elevation," Garbrandt told Submission Radio. "No, I wouldn't, I wouldn't go there. You know, [Joseph Benavidez and Lance Palmer] are out there and training with T.J. They have previous relationships with him so it's whatever, but they're going to come back and train with us in the team? I don't know how well that's going to go over."

Garbrandt faces John Lineker Feb. 21 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, but sees a date with Dillashaw sooner than later.

"I'll probably end up fighting T.J., so I guess I'll focus on this fight and I guess we'll have to talk about that when it comes," said Garbrandt. "You know, [Benavidez and Palmer] will continue to train with T.J., basically 'the enemy' and Duane Ludwig and all those guys, so I don't know. I don't really try to focus on that too much this camp."

The undefeated Ohio native sounds most disappointed in Palmer, who he's had in his corner for his past four fights.

"He's from Ohio, he's my boy," Garbrandt said of Palmer. "He's one of my good friends, but at the end of the day you're going to go out there and help that dude? You know what I mean? You're going to go out and help that dude that's not even on the team? I understand they have a friendship and whatever, this and that, but I don't feel comfortable with it. But hey, I'm focusing on myself. I'm doing what I need to do to win this fight and further my career, so that's all I have to worry about."

Good for them. Alpha Male is old news and puts a cap on your potential. Dont get me wrong, been a hell of a camp with cracking talent but I reckon the game has passed them by a bit.

I like yo think Rose Baby is just that good, but PVZ looked not ready for the biggest fighht of her career. Notice how basically no vet have ever went to Alpha. Faber picks up young athletes who will listen to him like hes the freddie roach of mma. PVZ is very loyal sounding to Faber because she knows no better or what a better camp could do for her.

Bot to trash that camp or Faber's career but that camp isnt anywhere near elite.

I have to disagree. Team Alpha Male are a bunch of children. The guys are training with someone who improves their mixed martial arts game. They trained with this guy before any of this happened. This split has nothing to do with them.

Gym loyalty is not something I recognize as a strong trait. It's the mentality that if you join a karate class, you shouldn't join a jiu jitsu class. These guys should be focused on becoming the best mixed martial artists they can be, not on hung up on things like who has a falling out with who. It's that mentality that if someone leaves England to train in America, they are turning on their English camp which has got them to that moment. In actuality, they just have aspects they can train with better people so they take advantage of it.

I think it all depends on how the fighters conduct themselves and how the move is done.

Loads of fighters have tried different camps to broaden their skill set. Dan Hardy is a great example he used to split his camps between 4 or 5 different places - Xtreme Couture, Rough House, Drysdale BJJ, 10th Planet and even Tristar. Nothing wrong with getting different perspectives.

The TJ and Ludwig move to elevation seems to have been done in the most shitty unprofessional way though. No way I'd want guys who were mixing with those dickheads coming back to my gym tbh.

PVZ training out of team midget wrestling and being out-wrestled by a kickboxer like Rose Namajunas makes me think there is something wrong with that place.

TJ, Benavidez and Palmer might be the smart ones.
