Mirko = needs to be out of the top ten after getting crushed by two fighters who werent even in the top 15 let alone 10.

Yeah Cro Cop definately belongs at the bottom of the list, two serious lackluster performances and defeats to questionable opposition :S. And don't kill me for saying this but say Fedor doesn't come to the UFC and just destroys cans. How long can you say he's number one? I do think Fedor is the best in the world but if he's inactive or fighting no-namers how can he be number 1? He has to defend that top spot against other top fighters. Maybe I'm just angry and frustrated cause he won't come over to the UFC

Fedor should lose his number one spot if he doesn't fight someone decent within the next few months.

Again I dont see him in the mix with Hunt/Aleks. Looking at a fighters recent wins only gives you an idea of how he is RIGHT NOW, not ever or even potentialy.
Kinda like Matt Serra, he was like what 13th or something before the GSP fight, but JUST because he beat him doesnt make him the best WW in the world. The term to be the best you have to beat the best doesnt always work, cause you can beat ANYONE, but your not the best until youve proven it time and time again. Like Hughes or Fedor.
We never know, maybe Mirko will probably be worse with every coming fight, but you still have to give him credit. I give Gabe all the credit in the world for beating Mirko, but Kongo im edgy about because he only beat him on points (no excuses or anything) but he didnt REALLY beat him to deserve to be thrown into the top 10 mix.

Very true, but Mirko was originally ranked so high for a reason. These past accomplishments can't be denied, especially since they happened not to long ago.

But you see Plazzy, that is why rankings are always flawed. People judge them differently. You take more of a who is the better fighter and who has the most potential and such, while I try and calculate it based on recent and past wins, the way of winning and the rank of the defeated. Neither system is technically wrong, but neither is technically right either. It just makes it harder to do rankings.

Personally, I look at recent wins, the rank of the people they have beat and lost to and the way of winning/losing. I don't just guy by who is P4P best or anything like that.

Yeah, I know what you mean. Past number it gets debateable, past number 5 its just confusing.

I don't understand how that works.
How can you deny a man that has put up such and undeafeated streak as Fedor and has dominated every fighter put in his way, including frequent Top 10'ers?

Who has he beat recently to prove that he is the best? Lindland? Hes not even in the same weight class. I could go on and bring up more valid points, but maybe thats best saved for another thread.

In 2006 he beat Wanderlei and Josh Barnett.
In 2005 he beat mark coleman (i know not a big deal) and Josh barnett and went the distance with Fedor and Mark hunt. And his fedor fight wasn't even dominating in my opinion, he did good against him. Messed up Fedors face (it is Fedor, it probably healed by the time he got to the locker room ).
