Sylvia vs Kongo would be fun but like Kongo vs Cro Cop proves nothing about Kongo that we don't already know he has great Muay Thai so do a lot of other fighters who can't fight on the ground and disappear.

I concur.
Casual fans need to know that Nog's as legit as they come. Sticking him with Herring for the third time was incredibly pointless, but oh well, such is life.

I really don't think his groundgame was horrendous. He did show a lot of improvement in the Mirko fight, and I think that he has obviously been working on it for a bit. Give him some time, and his groundgame will be just fine.

Really he was on the ground with Cro Cop didn't look that good and seriously Kongo looks incrediably uncomfortable on the ground. Worse IMO than Diabate. |

Seriously, ugh, there is a reason I didn't mention Nog as an opponent, of course Kongo would get tooled.
Am I the only one that wants to see this guy keep going up? The Heavy Weight division is only about 2 competitors away from being the Middleweight division, is that what the fans want?
Maybe I should have made this topic Kongo v. Arlovski...who wins? Why would you want to completely tool a guy that is about a fight away from being a legit contender? |

I've said this before, but I'll say it again.
I think that Kongo should fight the winner of Tim Sylvia vs Brandon Vera.
Either way, it will be an exciting fight standing up, and whoever he fights, the fight could go either way.
I think that there's a possiblity the UFC might have Kongo fight Minotauro, but that's a bad matchup style wise. Nogueira is too good on the ground and I think that he would be willing to pull guard on Kongo to win that fight.
Personally, I think Kongo has one of the best striking games I've ever seen in MMA. He's strong and he's fast. Realistically, he's as dangerous as Sylvia or Vera, and those are both matchups that I would pay to see.
So, my thought is that the UFC will put together a big striker v striker matchup by giving Kongo the winner of Sylvia v Vera, and giving CroCop the loser.
I think that Nog might fight Werdum, and that's a fight I'd love to see go to the ground, because of how good their jiu-jitsu is.
My question is what's next for Andrei Arlovski?

I'm with you Halebop, I'd love to see him go far. The main thing is his ground game. To call it 'horrendous' is too far imo, I would say its bad and needs work but its not like he is losing right away if he gets on his back. IMO he showed improvement in his groundgame against crocop, but he still needs work.
