Kongo beat a timid and weary CC. If you watch CC fight after his last loss he was the same way. I say Kongo is lucky because i think Mirko would have beaten him if his rib did not break. I give Kongo repect and credit for the win and broken rib but he will not make it far. Mark my words as soon as Kongo faces a well rounded opponent ARLOVSKI he is toast. I could do a better job on the ground then him. Jus watch him on his back.

Having a kick that breaks ribs is a good asset. You are putting the "If" on the rib breaking. Well if Kongo hadn't kicked it, it wouldn't have broke. Kongo is going to be kicking in every fight so I wouldn't base my opinion of his ability as a fighter on the fact that his opponents rib broke because that is a possibility in every fight he has. I would give him props for that. And Arlovski ain't well rounded. I like AA alright but if you are going to keep refering to him as "well-rounded" I am gonna have to call that out as bullshit.

He hasn't lost by submission ever, so I really don't know where this whole 'hopeless/horrendous' talk comes from. What makes you think that Arlovski would tear Kongo apart? Kongo beat 'an angry, determined Mirko' (lol) CC has better striking than Arlovski and Kongo schooled him.
Mounted by CC in the first round doesn’t look good. I don’t think he's "hopeless" on the ground but right now his ground game needs a ton of work.

The full mount only "=" good if you can keep it and Kongo was mounted for about 5 secs before he turned Crocop over. A. Silva was mounted by Travis Lutter too.

Next For Kongo....I think Arlovski would be the best logical contender match up for the heavyweight division right now. Both fighters seem to be headed up the ranks and the winner would be in a serious position to get a title shot. Thier styles are very simular and the fight would be a tough one to call. Maybe Arlovski can get a little more motivated for this fight than he did with Fabricio Werdum. I think Kongo would have the edge just looking at thier last two fights though. Arlovski seems to be flat are very cautious his last few fights. We all know thats not the old Arlovski. Thats why I give Kongo the edge if any.

Kongo/Vera is my pick.

I'd really like to see how Vera handles a guy like Kongo the next time around. Kongo isn't completely oblivious to the ground game, and may be powerful enough to breakout if he were in trouble. By the time he fights next I'm sure we'll see an even more improved Cheik, and he's already pretty scary. The only problem is who the UFC wants to market right now, always gotta factor that in. Vera may very will skip over and get a title shot if he beats Tim.

BTW go Timmy!

I think him vs Sylvia/Vera would be a fun fight to watch, but I think he deserves to fight Nog for the #1 contender spot. He did just beat CC, and is on a pretty nice win streak in the UFC. Kongo/Nog, winner gets Couture. Pretty much guarantees Nog vs Couture also, how can you complain about that?

What a stud

Seriously why the hell would anyone want to see him vs a striker while it would be entertaining it would prove nothing. Kongo needs to prove he can fight on the ground or at least keep a fight standing before he moves up in the HW divison beating a striker doesn't really do that. Seriously though if Kongo was to fight Werdum, Gonzaga, Nogueira, Vera, or any other HW with a ground game he would lose. He has world class Muay Thai but remeber that he was facing Mirko who doesn't really throw very much he just sits back and waits which if you attack him makes you look a lot better than you are not taking anything away from Kongo.
