So ya i haven't been able to really train for it in the last 3 weeks. I'm representing Demon boxing kickboxing jiu jitsu vale tudo in the 159-171 open belt.
Hopefully i'll be ready, i'm going in as a white belt in JJ and i have never actually competed in a GI and normally don't practice in one. The funny thing is im going in as the favorite lol, i've trained 5 years in Submission wrestling and i hold an ameture MMA record of 4-1. I will start training everything else at Central Washington University in hope i can still progress in college while still fighting. Anyways i'll try and let anyone who wants to know how i do or update with how my trainings going.
Sorry if i missed it earlyer Flyingknee, but what are you trained in and what are you competing in? Also what weight class are you in?

haha ya, this is just Seattle Comp though, i doubt i could make it to nationals. With my Submission Wrestling i've done i can maybe beat brown belts, but i'd probably get schooled by black belts in comp. I've rolled with them before and i usually just get caught as usual wrestlers do by going for submissions and control. I can last by just sitting in defence but.....that doesn't go anywhere lol.

haha thats true, and seeing how it isnt strictly a BJJ tournament, and more a MMA competition I'm not so sure how you'd fare, unless you have good striking. I personally have been boxing a bit recently to get my hands up to par, but if I'm going up against a striker, best believe I'm looking for a quick shoot and work the positions from there.......Ive pretty much mastered the flying knee, so if hes looking to take ME down, I can always come up with one of thosue out of left field, but I'm more inclined to take it to the mat.
Also, how come yours doesnt extend further? Thats one of the perks of this NE tournament, whoever wins goes on to nationals to go up agianst some of the best in the country, I'd look into that if I were you.

Well alot of the other gyms in WA and theres one from Idaho that sometimes comes.
Anyways i've been doing kickboxing for the last 8 years of my life, and i love to throw. I just like to do alot of the jiu jitsu tourni's because i don't end up and messed up as kickboxing lol. I'll put it this way, when i go to class the next day i won't have a bruised face. Unless i was being stupid and get like Judo tosses on my head lol.
I wanna start takeing judo actually, after watching Karo and a few other guys use it in MMA i think it'd be awsome to know. I personally think its funny how alot of MMA fighters think Sambo is better then BJJ. I've rolled with a few Sambo fighters and it seems its not as much arm bars, triangle chokes, etc. Its more control, knee bars, heel hooks, and ankle locks.

the thing about Judo, from what I was trained is theres a time and a place for it. I can work the Judo Throws and transition it into some nice ground work, BJJ style. Just gotta know when to do it and when its too obvious your gonna do it. The key is timing....well for me at least.....
