That is not something that makes the sport suck it is something that makes this sport so wonderful to watch.

Do you really think tito would stand a chance against wanderlei at the time he murdered rampage??

That's why I like MMA so much, because it's not just a ranking system that determines who is going to win. You have to look at style matchups and history.

As for the Wanderlei v Tito reference, I think that if the fight happens soon (and hopefully it will) Wanderlei will destroy Tito.

Things change and so do fighters.

not to mention i think titos slower now

not in his stand up or wrestling....

in his running

The most solid advice I can give to anyone who fights BJ Penn is...do not motivate the guy. Lets face it, BJ although talented, is naturally lazy. Your job is to NOT convince him to step on that treadmill.

Think about it.

The number 3 guy in the world can lose to a number 10 guy if it's a good matchup for number 10, where number 3 would normally destroy guys ranked 4 all the way down.

A number 1 guy can lose to a number 4 guy if it's a good matchup for number 4. But the nunber 4 guy would usually lose to 2 and 3.

Check out this MMA math and see how messed up it is (forget about how they happened in the past for now):

Wanderlei beat Rampage (twice).

Wanderlei lost to Tito.

Therefore Tito is greater than Rampage.

But Tito can't be greater than Rampage, since Rampage destroyed Chuck twice and Chuck destroyed Tito twice.

Ahhhhhh.............

Forget about my MMA math for a moment and I hope you see what I'm saying.

It sucks that you can never really pinpoint who is definitively the best. A top 20 guy can beat a number 3 guy if it's a good matchup for nunmber 20.

Sucks ass eh?

I can only see it getting better in the future (like 20 years from now) when every fighter is a lot more well rounded than they are today.
I think it would be very difficult to find a sport, team or individual, where this isn't true.

I'd actually feel sorry for Tito if he were put in the octogon with Wandy now.

I agree that it is an annoying part of MMA but it does keep it unpredictable which is a good thing as well as a bad thing.

There is a certain randomness in MMA that you get when two top atheletes are swinging at each other. The best fighter will not always win.
Sucks if you are a fan of that fighter..

I do agree that it is more prevelant in MMA than in other sports, but it's not like it's completely random. 'usually' a better fighter will win, just not as much as in other sports
