Since then he has lost to Frank Edgar, and many people feel he lost against Clay Guida.

Tavares looked extremely good against a tough opponent in Jason Black. His ground game was almost flawless, but I'm not sure on his standup. I don't remember how well he fought on his feet in that fight and I don't know enough about him to know if his standup is any better than Tyson's. I think his ground game alone looks good enough to beat Tyson.
Agreed we had a long arguement about how Tyson was overrated before the guida fight, and if I do say so myself we owned the other guy
Tavares barley stood with Black so IDK about his standup, but he said that he has been training in Muay Thai for a while and is a BB in Judo and BJJ.
Tyson has some sick TDD but everything else is average
Tavares for the win

well both the edgar and guida decisions are arguable, but you can't deny that he put up a good fight regardles, and he doesn't really gas....

i think he'll wear tavares down, and earn a decision...sorry if my typing is bad...i'm pretty messed up right now...

Tavares record is damn impressive, check it out guys:

13 fights undefeated.
10 victories via submission.
2 victories via UNANIMOUS decision.
1 victory via TKO.

Sure, he hasn't really faced a lot of tough guys. But the fact he has been able to finish 11/13 of his fights is VERY impressive.

Tavares has not been tested yet, and in this fight he will. He beat a weak Black. The fight against Black was Black's first time at that weight, and he did not fight like he usually does. Tyson will not gas in this fight. Tyson is also underrated on the ground, but I believe he will try to keep it standing like usual. I have only seen him take it to the ground once and it was against Ludwig. I feel that everyone has to go through some turmoil, and even face defeat to become great. Tyson did that all against Edgar, and he is a new fighter from all of that. you say Tavares has finished 11 of 13. Tyson has finished 8 of 10. Its a fact that both of these fighters are good. I have Tyson Griffin winning in the second round by GnP, or via Decision in the third. People say Tyson is overrated as a fighter, but all of his skills seem to be underrated. I believe Tyson will slowly work his way to a top title contender and eventually earn a title shot. I believe he is that good.
