Holy Shit! I think you're right. But why wouldn't he have tapped from that arm bar? That had to hurt WAY more.

I'm not sure if he tapped or not, but I didnt think he would. When I saw that arm bar I decided that Gracie might rather let Matt break his arm then tap out. I dig both Matt and Royce, it was weird, like seeing my brothers fight. Good Guy Vs Good Guy. They both have a lot of pride, as they both should. Gracie will always have my respect, tap out or not.

I think you're asking about the Matt Hughes armbar.

It was really a sloppy armbar, he had no leverage and Royce is very flexible and highly tolerant to pain after like 40 years of practicing BJJ. Hughes had no leverage and wasn't in a position to do any damage to Royce that would have stopped the fight.

If you look at the concentration on Royce's face while he's in the armbar, he's completely comcentrated on finding a way out of the armbar, the pain isn't even phasing him. Royce knew that Matt wasn't going to be able to tap him out and so did the entire Gracie family.
