I don't see what the problem is. Nog's last win was pretty unimpressive, he almost lost early on to someone much lower on the ladder and although he came back, could not finish the fight. Mir is a contender and a good fight for Nog. After this I'd say Nog should be back in line for a title shot.

I predicted this fight about 2 weeks ago.

I don't think Nogueira will win by submission although his Jiu Jitsu is better then Mir's i think Mir even if he fights like he has recently he will defend well but i think Nogueora will win by TKO or if it goes the distance which i think it may then Nogueira by unanimous decision.

I think the "big fight" Dana said will be against Kongo and Cro Cop will get an opponent a little less up on the ladder to see how well he bounces back but it is his last fight on the contract so he may fight Arlovski. I am not sure because i don't know who else is available but if i check i could most likely get a better prediction.

AA is taking a bit of a break last I heard. UFC is not too happy with his last "fight to not lose" win. I mean, it was one of the first times in the UFC I've seen a ref threaten to deduct a point from EITHER fighter if they didn't stop backing away from each other.
I'm sure Quadros or Goldie would call it "respect" but Dana wasn't too happy. I want to see him fight again but he needs to find his mojo first, and going against Big Nog, who is basically Fabricio Werdum except with less experience, wins, and some might say less BJJ skill, is a bad idea considering how boring his fight with Werdum was.

At first this sounded ridiculous...but as I read through the thread I started to get excited about it. This is a big fight. If Mir is 100% this is gonna be a competitive fight. It's former UFC Heavyweight Champion vs. former PRIDE Heavyweight Champion. I like the sounds of that.

Mir looks good and healthy as of late. He could be pulling the same move Griffen is and requesting a huge fight in an attempt to shortcut his way back to the title. I think this has the makings of an excellent fight, and while Nog *should* win Pride fighters have proven hard to adapt to the cage. Also if Mir is finally confident again he will be ultra aggressive and make Nog work. Mir's conditioning is still in top shape, I wouldn't want to go 15 or 25 minutes with him.

I'm really looking forward to this fight, I've always been a fan of both these fighters and it's good to see a genuine UFC vs Pride match featuring two ex champs rather than another Pride re-match in a cage. I'll be pulling for Mir and I think he'll raise his game for this fight, though I think he'll gas and lose via decision or sub in the last round.

I completely agree. Mir's big advantage was being a competent wrestler and strong BJJ guy who is, well, huge. There aren't a lot of those, and that't why Tim's arm took such a horrible injury.
I've love to see what they can go together.

That, and I think the UFC believes Nog might lose to AA, but should walk over Mir, so they are going with the safer choice.
THat whole "you were boring so we aren't letting you fight" thing is bs. Kos vs Sanchez made me wanna cut my eyes out a LOT more than AA vs Werdum. And what does Kos get? A contendor shot... just doesn't make sense
