So, if Forrest beats Shogun, is he the next #1 contender?

Just wanted some opinions on this. My opinion, if Forrest would to beat Shogun he should be the #1 contender. He already has a win under his belt since his loss to Jardine and beating Shogun definitely would rank him up there.

Plus there's no one really at the time in the LHW division that would deserve it more if Forrest did beat Shogun. Tito and Rashad are doing their thing, Bisping and Hamill are doing their thing, Chuck and Jardine are going their thing, Houston Alexander needs 1 more fight against a top guy.

So yeah, give Forrest the title shot if such a thing should happen, defeat Shogun.

I think so.

Usually you want it to be someone on more than a 2-fight streak, unless they're a star from PRIDE. But if you beat the guy who was going to get a title shot, and you've paid your dues, like Forrest has, why not?

It would be different if there was someone else really pushing for a shot. Maybe if they'd brought Machida along quicker and given him more exposure it would be him. But they didn't, so it isn't.

I would say have him fight winner of Chuck/Jardine fight, but Chuck will prolly fight Silva after this fight, so there's noone for Forrest to fight. So he kind of gets a shot by default.

He gets a shot by default...and by beating Shogun, I say those are pretty good stats.

I'd hate to see this, but what if Jardine beats Liddell, and Forrest beats Shogun? Jardine would have a legitimate gripe if Forrest was deemed # 1 contender.

We'd likely have to sit through Jardine Griffin II.

Uugghhhhh!!!!!

Yeah, this is the right thing to do. Forrest needs to avenge his loss to Jardine by defeating the winner, otherwise, I think the winner of the Jardine/Liddell fight would get a title shot before Forrest.

Definately not. He's coming of losses against Ortiz and Jardine, one good win can't throw him into title contention.

Yeah, I voted no, because he did lose to Tito. So I think he should fight someone else, but in honestly, I just don't see who can he fight atm other then Jardine.

Since the Tito fight, Forrest was the plan for the next title shot. Losing to Jardine was very crushing since he knew it took him out of that contender status. Shogun is generally the number 1 205er in the world now. If Serra and Lutter get title shots for beating Lytle and Cote than why not Forrest.
