I don't know about the hospital masks, but Nakamura's antics are just japanese showmanship. You wanna see crazy antics see if you can find some of Genki Sudo's entrances. And it seemed to work for Nakamura, people were cracking up when he pulled up his shorts and made that goofy pose. Made me laugh during the staredown, even stonefaced Machida was laughing.

Yeh thats the Japanese for you. They like to excite the crowds, good fun to watch. Like the guy above said watch some Sudo and Gono entrances.
Sometimes the humor is hard to understand like Sakurabas cat posing at Heros the other day but loll thats just him.

It may sound weird but when i saw this thread i thought about it and heres what i came up with.
Many of the Yoshida Dojo guys went into MMA to prove Judo was good and to show it to the world. Although Judo is sort of big in the USA like here in Australia lots of people don't no what it is and have no respect for it so i think they are trying to get noticed and liked to get more people into Judo.
A big issue in Judo is that there is no where near enough promotion of the sport going around and a big part of this is that the International Judo Federation(IJF) only really care about competitions which pisses me off and since Judo has grown into such sporting only martial art(It pretty much is in alot of places)may make me want to quit.
Judo has some stupid things going on at the moment, I disagree and i know alot of Japanese guys disagree so i think they are trying to get it promoted and people going into Judo for self defence and MMA not just sport Judo.
That was sort of a idea/rant. Plus the Japanese guys like to excite the crowds but i think what i said may be in the Yoshida Dojo's plan.

I HAVE watched it and I've seen and admired Genki Sudo's entrances. I just took alook at Nakamura and said "Damn that's some strange tousers!"
I actually was the most curious about the masks.

I really am not sure what the masks were all about, but I'll stipulate just for the hell of it. I think that there are a lot of different viruses in Japan than over in the US and vice versa. Maybe the masks were there to help protect the fighter from (to them) exotic diseases while their bodies acclimate themselves to the conditions here? Conversely they could be trying to keep from bringing any diseases over to the US.
