Chuck Liddell too one dimensional ???

it got me thinking after watching that fight that once you get inside and away from Chucks punches there isnt much else to worry about.

He rarely kicks and wont take anyone to the ground....jardine outlasted him and threw more damage to the body with kicks.....

Where does this leave chuck now i wonder....and will he fight Silva still ????

i agree with the topic, but you have to realize something. Yes, Chuck is very one dimensional, as he relies on his hands and occasionally his legs to get the job done. In the case of tonights fight, however, he didn't need to utilize anything else. Jardine has no ground game, so he chooses to stand, what does a striker like to do more? I think you'll really see it come out when he fights someone with a decent jiujitsu game or something on the ground.

yep and his punching has taken him to the top of the tree.....but i somehow dont think it will take him much further from here.....i found myself saying kick him, take him to the ground, try sum gnp.....but nothing, its all about one big right hand.

Im sure he still has plenty to offer but i get a gut feel that his days are just about over in the coming year or two.

A changing of the guard i feel. I hope im wrong but.

i have been saying this for a long time now chuck is too 1 dimentional bring in most boxers and they would probably KO him cause of his style he used to be a kick boxer with great takedown defense now hes just a half decent boxer with great takedown defense he will only win against grapplers who suck at stand up and are forced to stand with him

I said it before the Rampage fight... Chuck Liddell is hugely overrated.

Rev. Maynard has a little shameless behaviour in the past
Chuck's old ass is more worried about partying these days. Him and Brittney can sit at the "washed up" table together.

Chuck has no "plan B". He has complete faith in his overhand right. If that doesn't work then he is in a fix.

Couture said once that when you are fighting Chuck you can't let him plant his feet, you can't let him get set, or he will do major damage with that right hand. Jardine used his powerful kicks to keep Chuck from getting set. My hats of to Jardine.

Chuck's been one dimensional for a long time. He just finally getting exposed. When you put a striker vs. a striker that's what could happen.

It's hard for me to say that he's overrated. I think that a lot of people give him too much cred because they don't know many other fighters. But he's definately fought his way through a lot of tough guys. I don't like his style that much, but I respect it. He's a tough guy. The sport is constantly changing, and the fighters are getting better at younger ages. So he needs to get over this hump to keep up. I would rather see Rampage, Henderson, and Shogun at the top but I can't bash on Liddell too much.

Think about this, if Randy still relied on his wrestling do you think he would have gotten the belt back?

He improved his game in EVERY aspect and from what I see each time he fights he brings another skill. The fight against Tim his stand up looked the best its ever been and against Gabe he brought some Muay Thai and better submission defense.

If Chuck can break away from his single minded focus on “counter striking” and brought more weapons (BJJ, Muay Thai, Sambo etc) he would be much more dangerous and his opponents would have to worry about more than an odd looping punch with a brick at the end.

If chuck doesn’t change his game he’s done.
