Chuck got in a routine of fighting like he does now, against inferior fighters for a long time. The UFC is ever evolving, and when Chucks claim to fame is his standup, and he gets schooled standing up by a huge underdog what does he have left?

When I saw Chuck use some more kicks, spinning back kicks, and spinning back hands it reminded me more of the old Chuck, but that is still just it.. Old. I dont think Chuck is near retirement time yet, but he needs to get with different trainers and change up his routine.

Obvious he isnt the stand up king anymore, he isnt fighting wrestlers anymore. He needs to work on better strike defense, needs to keep his hand up higher. When your opponents couldnt strike, or were afraid to strike with you, low hands worked. Everyone now knows they can get through your defense, and they know you can be KOed or at least rocked.

I dont think Jardine would have expected Chuck to try to take him down and GnP him, I cant see why Chuck didnt go for it.

i'm going to agree here. i really like him as a fighter, but his last 2 performances is not how a top tier fighter should be preforming. i think it really is time to call it quits, as sad as that may be.

Chuck showed no signs of old age in his fight against Jardine. He was still very light on his feet and displayed some great conditioning considering the pace. Plus, he was more aggressive than he's usually been in the last few years.

Despite all that, his linear style of fighting did look transparently more one-dimensional than ever before. Which is not a sign that he's too old, but too old fashioned and that it's time to expand his repertoire.

I agree with what most people are saying here. It just looks like the game has passed Chuck by to some degree. He has been exposed for the one-dimensional fighter that he is. You can't get by being one-dimensional anymore. Chuck needs to radically change his training and fighting style. At his age I'm not sure how viable an option that is.

To clarify, i'm not hating on Chuck. He was an awesome champion in his day. He needs to learn some new tricks if he's going to be a champion again.
