Keith Jardine has emerged as the biggest winner last night. He now holds victories over Chuck Lidell and Forest Griffen (the guy who beat Shogun). Impressive when you consider he really isn't ever talked about as contender in the LHW division. Discuss.
Yeah either Jardine had a terrible fight against Alexander, or Liddell has a terribile fight against Jardine. We will see when they fight next whether Jardine is for real or Liddell needs to retire. I hope that doesn't happen, because Chuck is truely a favorite fighter for me. I will always be a fan of his, win or lose. With that said, I hope Jardine and Forrest fight for the title shot. I think that it will be a much better fight this time and I wouldn't be suprised to see either one win. Give us Griffin/Jardine 2 Dana!
Well Houston Alexander is too early in his career and needs a reality check before he fights for a title. He is too arrogant right now and got plowed by Jardine in that fight and Jardine got "Silvia'd" (silvia/arlovski 1)
Jardine/Griffin/Henderson/Rua are the 4 under the title.
Jardine - Griffin - Winner fights Rampage in January
Rua - Henderson
There is so much mixup in the LHW div. Still have to take in Rashad vs Tito 2. If Tito comes up again he could take a Houston Alexander or Keith Jardine because these guys aren't powerhouses on the ground.
I am all for the more deserving fighter to win so there is no bandwagon.. I am Canadian and i'll stick by GSP and Liddell \/\/
BEING A LONGTIME LIDDELL FAN I HAVE TO SAY THIS..
I love the guy... I've liked him since 2002 but it is his time to retire. He had a good run but his guy and man tits last night showed that he is truly not passionate about his training anymore. He has been in way better shape for less important fights. 2 losses... he will be nothing more than a money fighter from here on out.
I can't see Jardine as the number one contender, Griffin finishing Shogun is bigger and better to me then Jardine winning a split decision over an aging Liddell.
The thing that will be working in Jardines favour is he holds a win over Griffin and he was fighting in the main event. Should be interesting to see who Silva/White matches up against Rampage.

Jardine "lost horribly" because he had Alexander staggered within the first 15 seconds and went in for the kill, exposing himself in the process. I don't blame the guy for trying to finish the fight and get out of there virtually untouched. Too bad for him that he didn't count on Alexanders obscene power. Much credit to HA for hanging in there and gritting out the win, but to take anything away from Jardine for that loss is silly. Much like taking away from Griffin for loosing to Jardine is silly when he was controlling much of that fight up till the point where Jardine connected with that clean nasty shot.
With all due respect to Jardine coming in and fighting hard I think this had more to do with Chuck sliding downhill than "The Dean of Mean" moving up it.
Forrest and Jardine had great showings but I don't know if either of them is ready for Rampage, who I could see beating both of them either standing or by takedowns/Gnp.
Honestly, you could give it to either Jardine, Forrest, or Houston. Hell, you could also give a title shot to LYOTO! But, that may be my fanboy-ism talking.
I give major props to Jardine but I'm going to save judgment on him until I see how he does against a fighter who puts him on his back. I know he can fight standing, but how will he fair when he tries to do those powerful leg kicks that are so critical to his game and he gets planted on his back?
Keith Jardine has got to be one of the most akward fighters I have ever seen on his feet. Not just unorthodox. There have been plenty of fighters that were unorthodox and still looked comfortable out there (Genki Sudo), but Keith looks like he's about to have a seizure with those herky jerky movements and the way he moves when he throws. This can work both for or against Keith and is very specific to his opponent. I believe this explains both his impressive victories and crushing defeats. Against Chuck Jardine's style was perfectly suited. The way Keith turns completely to the side when he kicks helped him dodge some of Chuck's leather. Also the way he ducks his head down and forward when he throws punches helped him out too. Chuck throws mostly hooks and jabs and an occasional straight right. Keith's head duck was perfectly suited for dodging Chuck's punches or at least escaping most of their wrath. Every time he did that I thought to myself that if Chuck would throw an uppercut Keith would get laid out because the head duck would make him walk right into it, but Chuck generally doesn't throw uppercuts, at least not often. A different opponent with different striking tendencies may be able to use Keith's movements as an advantage rather than a disadvantage because he definitely leaves himself vulnerable at times.
Anyway, good job Keith. He executed a good game plan to perfection and won convincingly (more so than the decision would indicate). I bet wherever Chuck is right now he is probably lying down and has no inclination to walk around on that leg. Ouch! His side has got to be pretty raw too.
I picked Jardine to win this fight, so I wasn't so surprised that chuck lost. After winning this fight I definetly think Jardine deserves a title shot.
Of course it's possible, but I doubt it. I think Quinton is one of the fighters whose style matches up well with Keith's awkward style(see my post near the bottom of page 2). I think Rampage's classic boxing stance and striking style would take advantage of the way Keith moves and pick him apart. Also Rampage has quite the chin. Still, you never know
I don't think Jardine would knock rampage out. Rampage's striking got much more technically improved. IMO, I thought Jardine would win the fight against chuck is because Chuck isn't used to fighting unorthodox strikers like himself. But rampage has shown he is great when fighting wild fighters like chuck. So I don't see rampage being knocked out.
Rampage only gets beat by Brazilians. On a serious note, Rampage was only knocked out once that was after eating a mean right and then something like 7 knees. Anyone who thinks Rampage is going out from a single punch is crazy.

If they have Griffin Vs Jardine, that will push the Title back even further and I don't want that.
I love that both guys kicked ass last night but I hate that the title picture is soo blurry. I don't want to be waiting 10 years for Rampage to defend his title.
I dont think chuck has changed. I predicted on another thread that keith will win by decision cuz he will land more leg kicks. Chuck's Style doesnt match up good against Keith. If chuck doesn't land that big punch he will get out boxed and leg kicks are points. i was surprised that ketih dropped chuck though. but those leg kicks keeped him off balance.
As for next Title Contender Im guessing its gonna be wandy cuz i dont rampage should wait that long for another title fight
but...who knows.
Forrest Beat Shogun
Keith Beat Forrest and Chuck
HA beat Keith but i think he needs more fights
Tito must be happy about the results cuz he has a W against forrest.
I say.
Rampage vs Wandy (for now)
Tito vs Shogun (if he gets passed Rashad)
Keith vs Forrest 2 (for #1 contender)
Chuck vs HA
Now why is some guy who simply told the truth being called a douche?
You just like to start fights?
Jardine got absolutely LUCKY against Forrest, and just beat a downhill Liddell, and all of a sudden hes great?
He has loses, one of which he DID get owned by houston, whom you call a "nothing" in your book I guess, But that Nothing is undefeated and coming up. why dont we wait and see what Houston can do in the near future before we dis him or dis others for seeing it the way it is.
