True. If Shogun hadn't gassed and still lost the fight there would still be people searching that extra length for something.
Fighters gas, it happens. Give some credit to Forrest. Shogun didn't gas himself out on his own. He exerted himself, Forrest applied resistance and exerted himself back. This can take a lot out of both parties. It would be understandable to argue on Shogun's behalf had he been out there beating on an offenseless piece of ham and wore himself out, but that just wasn't the case.

Thats called hitting the nail on the head!Absolutely correct in my opinion,he was off getting mauled by his new wife while Forrest was getting mauled in the gym by Randy and his crew.

People need to distinguish between a guy who doesn't quit coming forward, and a guy who has great cardio. Shogun doesn't have great cardio, but even when his tank is low he keeps coming forward (he even did this against Forrest, as feeble as it was) which gives him the illusion of having great cardio to some people.
Even look at his record, he's gone deep into a fight (past 10 minutes) 4 times, 2 of which were his legitimate losses, and the other 2 were against Nog and Nak, both fights in which I thought he gassed, but perservered anyways.
So I still don't understand the people who are in shock over him gassing in the fight. I'm probably going to take some heat from this as I have like 8 posts, but it's simple, he gassed because he has bad cardio.

i totally agree but unfortunately, your post will be ignored because it's the truth.

t's good people arn't simply accusing me of making excuses. In fact , Forrest Griffin might have been more underrated than Shogun overrated. Griffin is also a more technical fighter than people give him credit for, especially on the ground!
So maybe he was simply a phenomenal fighter in phenomenal shape who also relaxed more inbetween the action while Shogun was constantly, almost desperately, going for the sloppy takedown.

He walked over a bridge, and forgot to drop a silver coin, so the trolls cursed him with fatigue.
Oh, right, you said non-troll answers.
I don't know. Forrest has Irish ancestry so maybe it was leprachauns.

I think Rua may have trained expecting to end the fight early, I'm sure he saw Forrest's fight with Jardine which was basically a slugfest that ended quickly.
As far as all the steroid theories no steroid is going to give you better cardio in fact they mainly allow you to build muscles which absorb a lot oxygen.
Shogun was most likely looked past Forrest and once he realized he was in a real fight it was too late.
