"Right now I have Floyd running around the Showtime offices gathering my money, that's what he's doing," McGregor said, per Bleacher Report. "He's running around the Showtime offices begging those executives to come up with a $100 million cash to fight me. As soon as he gets my money, we can fight."
Should this be an MMA fight? Because Conor just lost in boxing against Nate Diaz. Why there's still talks about he facing an unbeaten professional boxer with almost 50 wins? :confused02:
Stick them in a cage and I'd probably put money down on Nate beating Floyd in a boxing match. Floyd would spark him with one clean shot but MMA changes everything. You can't just be a great boxer and still be a great boxer in MMA. There's a lot of changes in the game.
But yeah I don't see Conor having an iota of a chance. Nor does he to be fair. He just sees it being a record breaker and huge money. He doesn't have the one punch power that someone like Anthony Johnson has so in boxing he'd not really have a lot of power. In MMA, Conor should beat Floyd in about 60 seconds but Floyd at least has a one punch chance.
Whenever people on this site talk about MMA Vs Boxing, it always reminds me of boxing sites saying MMA fighters don't know how to throw a punch or WWE fans saying The Big Show likely smashes Brock Lesnar.
To bet on an MMA fighter to beat an elite pro boxer in a boxing match using MMA boxing is the same as betting on an MMA fighter beating a Jiu Jitsu world champion in a Jiu Jitsu match using MMA grappling.
Metamoris might not be the best example of this considering plenty of wrestlers have taken it to a draw. Amateur wrestlers will often have better cardio than straight BJJ guys so if it's a "jiu jitsu roll to the death" situation, I'd say the wrestler in these situations might eventually have a shot.
But yeah your first point is defo true. Boxing is soooooooo technical and scientific.
I think its quite the opposite, he wants the fight to happen so he can make a shitload of money. If it happens, and it is a boxing match, there's 2 scenarios in which Conor wins:
- he wins the fight (highly unlikely ) gets a shitload of money, and is more famous then pretty much anybody in the game EVER.
- he loses the fight, gets a shitload of money, saves face by saying that Floyd is a *****, and will not fight him like a men in a cage or some shit like that.
yeah true maybe he does want the fight to happen. but i dont think demanding 100 million will make it happen. if he said maybe 20 million it might have happened
This could actually become interesting. Does anyone know how many fights McGregor has left on his contract¿ He will not be allowed to fight Mayweather as long as he is under UFC contract, but when he has fought his fights and becomes a free agent, even a $ 20 million paycheck in a fight against Mayweather will raise his bargain power for a new UFC contract big time.
As far as I know, champs in the UFC have a +1 must fight contract. This could be one reason why McGregor is so confident that they won't strip him off the belt and he can keep on not fighting Aldo and choosing his opponents, because as long as he is champ, they can legally prevent the Mayweather fight.
true no way will Dana White let him fight in a boxing ring. Dana would probably allow a ufc fight to happen, but i dont think mayweather would want that
someone has to lose in this it cant be win win
This is as much of a freak show as it was bringing James Toney to fight Randy Couture under MMA rules.
