Joe Rogan would want to see Conor McGregor fight Nate Diaz's older brother, Nick.
Joe Rogan took to social media recently to talk about a match up that he would be interested in after the events that happened at UFC 202. According to the UFC commentator, if it was up to him, he'd put Conor McGregor in against Nate Diaz's older brother in Nick.
"If I was running the UFC, this is the match I would be trying to make," Rogan wrote on instagram followed by a bunch of $ signs.
Nick Diaz's suspension for marijuana has just ended, and we could be seeing the UFC star make a return soon.
As for a possible McGregor match, it doesn't seem to have the best timing as of now, with Conor likely dropping down to 155 or 145 next, and a trilogy with Nate would be looming afterwards as well.
Weight would also be a main talking point whether it would be in negotiations or during the build up to this hypothetical match up. McGregor made a big deal about fighting a ‘much bigger man’ when he took on a natural lightweight in Nate at 170 lbs. Nick would be considerably bigger, as the 33-year-old is a former Strikeforce welterweight champ who has competed up to middleweight multiple times.
That said, I would be lying if I claimed I wouldn't be excited to watch that. Rogan is right about it being another big money match up for the Irishman, and we’ve definitely seen crazier match ups in this sport.
It is also worth mentioning that UFC 209 happens early 2017, and I'm pretty sure people will be clamoring for at least one of the two Diaz brothers to headline that event.
Oh... Nick Diaz would bust McGregor up far more than either of these two. Honestly, no welterweights should be mentioned along with McGregor after his performance in the two Nate Diaz fights, as much as i was impressed with his turn around from the first to the second, it made his limits are pretty clear, McGregor is a great featherweight, good lightweight... barely average welterweight.
I could see it and it makes sense. But not next it doesn't. That is Nate's fight. If this last one made Cone 2-0 or up 2-1 and he had knocked Nate out I could easily see it and I would want it. But I doubt Nick would steal Nate's 3rd payday. Makes no sense in that regard.
Nick isn't a whole lot bigger than Nate. They are virtually the same in frame. Nick is just more accumulated to 170lbs. His body is a little more sturdy at that weight than Nate's was.
But no I don't expect it to happen. Maybe somewhere down the line if certain things were to happen.
Connor's chances against the elite 55'ers aren't looking great either. I think Connor vacates 145, fights Mayweather and retires in the hills of Ireland.
Money wise...yah. Doubt Nick would take it though as he knows that's his bros fight to make. Nick is a more refined version of Nate. He literally fought the best welter weights and MW and did not blink. Not a good fight for Conor. I still can't believe Nick stood all five rounds against The Spider.
I think some of you guys are forgetting how huge Nick really is. That fight sounds like a joke to me but whatever. Most of you were saying Nate was big? Nick has said he doesn't even have a desire to fight at WW again. He doens't want to make the cut. I bet he's walking over 200 right now for sure.
It's such a crazy idea to fight Nick, it goes nowhere, where would that leave his brother for the 3rd match? I swear to god, this is what smoking weed does to you.
I still can't believe that this was made to be such a big deal. Nate doesn't even fight in the same weight class that Conor is champion. All of this may have just been done to justify him fighting Eddie.
