Which if your excellent at BJJ, you have to be pretty intellegent at BJJ. It is not for a slow thinker. I am sure I don't need to go into details, but BJJ is a very complicated sport. You have to be always thinking.

That's true, but i guess i just consider that part of the skill set.

I define ring intelligence as more intangible. Something not part of a particular disciplin but just a general approach to the sport.

Demian Maia may be the Fred Astaire of jiu-jitsu, but it’s too bad Silva is the Gene Kelly of kicking everyone’s ass.

Well take Matt Serra for example. He even said that when he first hit GSP, he had to wait and not just rush in there. Was that skillful of him or Smart of him? When Rickson beat his opponents, it took massive amouts of skill. The question is can you be a skillful fighter without being an intelligent fighter and still succeed at the higher levels?
