The only way I see Kongo coming out on top is if by some miracle he survives 3 rounds and manages to scratch out a decision. I dont think he has the tools to survive on the mat with Nog.

I just cant see any other outcome other than a Big Nog win.

Big Nog has a good stand-up just as good as anythin Kongo will throw at him, and Kongo has absolutely no answer to Nog's takedowns.

Kongo has got to learn some takedown defense, he will never progress any further in his MMA career if he doesnt learn some sort of ground game.

Im sure Kongo will be training takedown defense, he didn't really need it since he was fighting Mirko.

And come on guys, stop with the knees to the balls, its getting really old.

That is true.

He's not really getting old, but he is sort of breaking down a little bit. All that punishment seems to be catching up to him, but he looked pretty sharp in his debut, and could still get the title.

Not really dominating, since Kongo was getting outgrappled by Cro Cop on the ground, and had to knee dude in the balls. Kongo won, no doubt, but it wasn't that dominating. He did, however, kill Mirko's will, so maybe he did dominate in a way.

The upsets are unreal, no doubt about that.

Main thing: Styles make fights.

Nogueira is a grappler. Kongo is a kickboxer with zero takedown defense.

I see Nog owning dude and making him tap in the second round.
Good post. I see the same outcome, don't know what round.

Once again I have to come to the rescue of Kongo.

His takedown defense and his guard are not that bad as everyone makes it out to be. He fought Assuerio Silva (ground fighter) and got back up to his feet many times, there may not be a lot of technical finesse, but he got the job done. He also did decent against Carmelo Marrero. He has never lost by submission. Granted, he has never fought the best ground fighter in the world (Nog), but surely that fact has to count for something. He has even won a fight via armbar (some small org). A lot of people thought Cro cop was going to decimate Kongo on the ground (some people were saying CC should take Kongo down) but what we saw was a Kongo with a vastly improved ground game, he even willingly went into Mirko's guard and tried to work the ground n pound. He also passed his guard.

So yeah, his ground game isn't half as bad as the hype says it is.

His stand up is better than Nog's, and I think that if he can keep it standing, he might be able out point him or even KO or TKO him (not sure about that iron chin of nog). I think that if Kongo were to knock Nog down with a Herring-esque high kick, he would be a lot smarter and go in for the kill.

Nevertheless, I am picking Nog by submission.

I see it being a very easy first - second round submission for Nog. Kongo won't knock him out I imagine and theres no way in hell kongo will submit him.
