Watching UFC 76 again. How on earth...

Did Fitch escape that guillotine choke from Sanchez? Sanchez has that choke from 4:23 till about 3:47 in the 3rd and had it pretty tight too. Fitch didn't have his hands inside too.

How did Fitch manage to survive the choke? He was giving thumbs up to the referee too all the while.

Could you discuss here how Fitch managed to stay awake all the while whereas i have seen plenty other guys fall asleep within 10 seconds or tap immediately.

How did he do that? It was simply amazing.

Fitch has always said that he can't be choked out. So it's quite possible that some (or all) chokes just don't put him out. Some guys have deeper arteries and it makes it harder to cut off the blood to the brain, Fitch could be one of those guys.

Fitch actually lost his first fight by rear naked choke...not sure if he tapped or went out but he can be caught in them. It is funny he says he can not be choked out. I think rear naked chokes are blood chokes where guilotines are air chokes......if that makes a difference.

Depending on how someone has the choke sunk in, it can either cut off the blood or the air supply. I think he's refering to cutting off the blood when he says he can't be choked out. So it's possible he had to tap to that one because he couldn't breathe, I haven't seen that fight, so I can't really say.

And depending how you have a choke sunk in, a RNC could still be an air choke if it's not applied properly and you end up with more of the forearm on the throat. Also, we're talking about his first MMA fight, so he may have either not known about this weird ability, or he might have panicked that he got caught in something and tapped. Has anyone who has actually seen this fight let us know how it went down? If there's anyone out there who's seen RFC 1.

Don't remember the choke in question, but if you can get your chin partially in, or turn you face toward the armpit you're fine with most chokes.

I wanna know how Sanchez beats Karo, and then gets man handled by Fitch. Is Fitch actually that much stronger or did something change in Sanchez. I feel something changed in Sanches as a result of his training method's. This frusterates me because i believe Karo can beat Fitch but you wouldnt think that with him loosing to Sanchez!

When I'm in a guillotine, I always use a high posture. I just rewatched the video, and that's exactly what Fitch did. He used a high lower body posture to make it easier to breathe. If Diego had wrapped his legs around Fitch's back and stretched him out, then he might have went cold, but he didn't have body control with that choke.

Go back and watch the fight. You can clearly see that Diego didn't extend his legs out and stretch Fitch's neck. Had he'd done that it would have been a different story. He had his legs too high.
