Six More UFC 76 Fighters Cleared of Steroid Use
The California State Athletic Commission today released the names of six additional fighters who cleared UFC 76 drug tests for anabolic steroids, masking agents and diuretics — bringing the total of number of fighters tested and cleared to 12.
The results for the remaining six fighters, all of whom were main-card fighters (including main-event participants Keith Jardine and Chuck Liddell), should be available later this week.
According to Bill Dougles of the CSAC, Anthony Johnson, Rich Clementi, Thiago Tavares, Tyson Griffin, Kazuhiro Nakamura and Lyoto Machida all passed their streroid-related drug tests. Yesterday, the CSAC announced the that the other six preliminary-card fighters also passed.
UFC 76 took place Sept. 22 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif. and aired on pay-per-view.
Last week the CSAC reported that 17 of the event’s 18 fighters had tested negative for drugs of abuse/recreational drugs. (Nakamura tested positive for marijuana and plans to appeal.)
However, testing for anabolic stroroids, masking agents and diuretics takes a little longer to complete.
