I've said it before, and I'll say it again. Tim Sylvia is like the murderously violent gorilla in Warner Brothers cartoons that is repressed and calmed by the soothing sound of the violin (in Tim's case the HW belt). Once that violin (or belt) is taken from said enormous beast, all hell breaks loose.

Unless Brandon Vera has undergone radical improvements since his contract dispute-related hiatus, I'm sticking with Tim Sylvia.
agreed.

I'm going with the Maine-iac. He's gotta come back hungrier than Arlovski did in order to get back in title contention, and there's still something about Vera that I don't like.

My favorite fighters of all time:

Randy Couture
Ken Shamrock
Rickson Gracie
Matt Hughes
Rampage Jackson
Chuck Liddell
Fedor Emelianenko

Are you kidding me? Tim Sylvia knocked out Andrei Arlovski, THE most technical striker in the Heavyweight division, if anything Vera should be a little concerned about that.

I've been feeling that there are few fans who are mistaking tentative fighting for how bad Tim Sylvia wanted to keep his belt, and Vera just might be made an example of.

I'm not saying Sylvia is a better fighter than Vera but the same exact Sylvia destroyed dudes en route to the belt for a reason, and when he finally got it, he willingly put himself in a position of facing fan-ridicule by staying super cautious (because he loved that belt, warning sign). Now that his "keeping belt" style had been pushed and proven wrong by Couture, it's time go back "to get my belt" style (Tim of Olde)...

C'mon guys, he immediately loses his belt and trains with the guy who embarrassed him and still holds it? He's crazy for that belt, it's stirring up, and Vera's the first person in his way.

I'm not rooting for Tim Sylvia. His lackluster fights made me lose respect for him. I never really liked him before and I won't start now. Brandon Vera will own Sylvia via TKO 2nd round.

I just don't see Vera finishing Tim in this fight. If Vera wins it will be by decision.

Iím not a fan of Tim and I think most of his fights have been dull and predictable.
His style has been exposed and unless he brings some real fire (which heís capable of) heís going to be surprised by Vera who I think has better overall standup AND ground skills.

I do respect Timís abilities (when he actually tries to win) and I think his unpopularity is unfair, itís mainly due to his unsightly physical appearance and fighting style (jab jab jab) but everyone here saying Very talks too much are forgetting all the times Tim has put his size 16 foot in his mouth.

I think this fight has some real potential to be an all out war.

Iím pulling for Very, heís a local and always puts on a show but it could go either way.

It shows he is humble and doesn't have an ego.

I have said before that the Miletich fighters purposely stir people up as part of their mental tactics.

Id like to see the Tim Sylvia of old come back in this fight.
