UFC 79: Chuck Liddell and Wanderlei Silva verbally agree to fight

Quote:
Finally (sorta). The mega bout between former champions Chuck Liddell and Wanderlei Silva for which mixed martial arts fans have clamored for years is going to go down at UFC 79 on December 29, according to a report from Dave Meltzer at WrestlingObserver.com.
Both light heavyweights have apparently verbally agreed in principle to clash at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, on New Year’s Eve weekend.
Here’s the actual snip:
“Chuck Liddell vs. Wanderlei Silva is now verbally agreed upon by both sides to take place on 12/29 in Las Vegas.”
Meltzer is usually dead-on with his inside information. In addition, this report echoes recent statements from John Hackleman that his fighter is penciled in to face the “Axe Murderer” once and for all.
Nothing, of course, is set in stone until the bout agreements are signed and an official announcement comes from the Zuffa front office.
But this looks pretty much looks like a done deal.
Rejoice.

About damn time! This match should have happened a year ago.
Also, I'd like to see Chuck use some of his wrestling skills! If he learned anything from the Jardine fight is that he needs to start using some of his other skills.

I'm glad we finally get to see it cause I know I've been wanting it for a long time...but its not a good idea. Chuck and Wanderlei are coming off 2 losses. BOTH have a huge appeal to American fans. Wanderlei even has a big fan base despite fighting in PRIDE.
Does the UFC really want to hand one of these fighters (arguably the most popular today) a 3rd straight loss? This is a dangerous fight.
Just like I told all my boys before the jardine fight, it doesnt matter wheather chuck wins or losses, they are still going to fight. To put it simply, there is just too much money to be made off of this fight for Dana not to let it happen. Besides they are both coming off of two losses so it seems like the perfect time to me.
UFC 79: Redemption.
but fights that these have a funni way of turning out
