This Is The Re-Watch: UFC 64: Unstoppable
Hey, Kurt Pellegrino easily subs Junior in the first round. Good showing from Batman, and a bad performance from Junior.
Clay Guida is all caveman-like, which is always awesome. Justin James is sort of like Jonathan Goulet's little brother, facial wise, and skill-wise, they're not too far apart. Not great, not horrible, just...there. Guida's pace sucks Justin James dry, and then Guida and his glorious hair choke out Goulet jr. Nice debut from Clay, who then went on to lose fights he won.
Kalib Starnes pretty much turns into Vitor Belfort here, and Okami makes him his woman within the first round. Whoa, Okami's pimp hand is pretty strong, as he has Rory Singer, Mike Swick, & Kalib Starnes working the streets for him. Typical Okami performance, and a really solid win. Man, I can't wait for him to put MacDonald in his stable.
Dan Lauzon is, of course, Joe's little brother. Spencer, of course, is all awesome and shit. SPENCE! SPENCE! SPENCE! SPENCE! Sorry, my fanboyism caught up with me. So yeah, really solid fight, as Lauzon tries, but can't do anything to Spencey Spence.
Haha, Cheick Kongo sucks. Haha, Carmelo Marrero sucks, too. Haha, this fight sucks. Haha....wait, why am I laughing at all this shittiness?
Jon Fitch pretty much schools Hironaka for 3 rounds. Hironaka attempts a few triangles, but you can't triangle the awesome that is Jon Fitch. Great win for Fitch, who will probably be champ soon, as I don't really see anyone beating the guy. Well, maybe a motivated GSP, but Fitch is durable, so he'd make GSP work for it. Hell, I'd still pick Fitch over GSP. Huh, oddly enough, Fitch is sort of like GSP, in that he's beating all these good fighters with relative ease, and the hardcores are screamin' for title shots. He's like GSP, but with less backing from the higher-ups.
Say what you will about him, but Sean Sherk is a freakin' beast. Steroids or not, the dude works his ass off to compete, and he pretty much stole Kenny's soul in this fight. Pretty nasty to see Florian basically bathe in blood. Florian just wasn't ready yet. I mean, he was coming off a nice showing against Sam Stout, but he was thrown in there way too early. Now, Florian seems to be ready, and that's awesome. Meanwhile, fans have to deal with this Sherk mess.
Yikes, that was a crushing defeat, probably the worst we've seen in a while. Anderson Silva stole Franklin's soul in this fight, and fed him knee's until he couldn't take it anymore. Franklin, in his infinite wisdom, decides to stand and trade with Silva. Really, really stupid move, as Silva basically says, "Screw this!" and kills him. I mean, Fedor did make Coleman's kid's cry, but Coleman was an old, washed up fighter. Franklin was still very relevant, and he got crushed like a can, and kicked all the way back to Cincy.
I dug this show a lot, as the only horrid fight was the suckfest that was Marrero vs Kongo. Well, Okami vs Starnes wasn't terribly exciting, but I dig Okami, and he ate Starnes' heart.
Discuss.
