Ill wait for the offical word on what she has actually been flagged for before making any judgement's.... Doesn't look good, i guess she was never destined to be that first 145 champion after all huh?

Man this really sucks if found to be true. I love watching Cyborg fight but it seems all my favorite fighters keep getting popped for stuff.

Not for a steroid, and she has a prescription as part of the post fight therapy she’s been receiving due to the severe weight cut.
So, 9 weeks after her last fight she was still on this medication? 9 weeks?! What fooking condition did she have? Instead of saying over and over "shes all messed up due to the severe weight cut", why not give us an actual medical condition? What is wrong with her exactly, that it would require 20 weeks "medication" before she can fight again?

...no doubt their answer would be "it's like, a really serious condition, yo. Like, proper deadly shit. Literally. Deadly."

It does seem weird.

On a completely unrelated note, female body builders often use spironolactone because it not only cuts water (without losing potassium, so no cramps) but also because it can help with the androgenic side effects of steroid use. Like acne and hair growth.

Some people think that they can convey either a philosophy on life or a complex political statement using a signature on the internet. I'm not one of them.

Doctors also prescribe water pills to treat side effects of PMS. It's a diuretic that she's taking out of competition, so I guess the issue is why is this illegal to take a substance banned for weight cutting, when you aren't weight cutting for a fight? Once again I think the drug policy is overreaching compromising the health and safety of the fighters under UFC contract.

Make the WW division great again

She released an official statement on facebook.

Quote:
I have been notified today by USADA of a potential violation stemming from an Out of Competition Sample collected Dec. 5 2016.

USADA is an independent administrator of the UFC Anti Doping policy and will be responsible for the review and any sanctioning if imposed.

It has been brought to my attention that my recent sample contained a banned substance known as Spironolactone. The substance is part of a therapeutic treatment being administered to me by doctor that started the 26th of September and is suppose to last for a period of no less than 90 days, requiring blood exams at the completion. In addition to the treatment administered to me by Dr Ulyssea M Da C O Pinto (CRM-PR19062/CRM-RJ 30150-9/CRM SC 2740/ CRM -RO 2630) I was given a medical suspension by her not to enter into competition style training or weight cutting practices during the period of recovery. It is for those reasons why I declined the UFC fight Feb. 11th 2016 for the first 145lbs belt.

I am proud to be a member of USADA, and was the first fighter to complete 1 year of testing under USADA programs before competing in UFC competition.

I have been tested 14 times since entering the program, twice in Q4 in 2016 and have never had a flagged sample.
My Dr. is experienced with USADA testing and informed me there were no additional steps needed for approval with the associated treatments given to me following my UFC Brasilia fight.

we are being fully cooperating with USADA at this time and have already started the process of applying for a retroactive therapeutic use exemption.

For my fans who are disappointed in the news, I am sorry.
You can feel confident that the substance they are inquiring about is not for performance enhancing use, and is needed for my specific treatments. (International Medical Codes CID E 87.6, CID 87.8, CID E 44.0, CID N 83.2, CID 115.9, CID Z73.3 CID E 06.3) Sept. 24. Feel confident that I am a clean athlete.

It is my hope that my experiences will continue to bring awareness to the dangers of extreme weight cutting. I cut weight 3 times in 8 months during 2016 competing twice at 140lbs. It is because of the measures needed to make the required 140lbs weight limit Sept 24 that my body is needing the on-going medical treatment.

I am glad the UFC has created the 145lbs division and look forward to fighting for the belt once my body is recovered and ready to compete. Additional information or statements will be provided at the appropriate time as the process moves forward.

So she was taking the diuretic Spironolactone that is known to mask Aldosterone, a horomone.

In other news... The Pope does shit in the woods.

So we have to put up with the UFC holding her in UFC property Invicta...then forcing her to fight two silly fights at 140 lbs, then FINALLY create the 145 lb division - only to have her likely banned and unable to compete within said division before it even gets off the ground...and mere days after the inaugural title fight is announced.

Hahaha, fack sakes.

What's enraging about it is how she's played the victim card all these years.

Oppressive UFC don't respect me
Rousey needs to STFU about my last failed drug test
I still get harassed about steroids
Poor me. Poor me.

You often find that those who constantly portray themselves as victims are those who are most guilty.

Poor Cyborg.

If you're not willing to die for it remove the word freedom from your vocabulary.

She says she was put on these for 90 days. They supposedly help kidneys and liver function. With the bad weight cut the story sort of lines up.

What does not line up is the fact these are pretty much bolded in all caps on the banned substance list. She is not claiming tainted supp where fighters should research what is in random pills anyway. But an actual banned substance. It is hard to believe that a high profile fighter who has popped before...who fights PED claims daily, is too busy to understand that this is banned. It does not seem possible to be that irresponsible eapecially at that level and profile.

I really have no remorse for anyone who is just too lazy or ignorant to understand what they are taking. She isnt crying yet so maybe she full well knew and took the risk. But either way this just black marks her whole woh is me act.

How sad is it that the UFC made a 145 division? The best 145 is going to be suspended. UFC has zero actual 145s on the roster without her. Sweet division. Wouldnt be surprised if she never fights for that belt in the ufc. This whole cyborg experiment seems like a waste of time. Hard to know if Dana had any real plans for her at 145 or not. If I was him I would have as she is the only other woman fighter who can draw anything besides Ronda.
