I think Joe and Goldberg do a pretty good job. This sport begs for some loud energetic commentating and they do it well.

For all those seeming to agree with the OP here think TUF fights. Are they really any better? Id rather hear Joe and Goldy relaying the action than some corner coach yelling "watch out for the triangle" 20 times in a row.

commentating has to be there. people wouldn't know wtf is going on.

plus having joe telling casual fans techniques and moves makes mma more legitimate. It shows people how professional/technical the sport can be.

I could go without Rogan's knowitallism, repeating the same shit over and over. I dont like Rogan at all.

I was gonna come in here and say commentating was nesessacary, but I guess the TuF fights get by without them. When you can hear the corner yelling, makes it seem more real.

Commentating as it is now is fine imo. All they need to do is get rid of Goldberg (god he says some stupid shit..."So in your opinion Joe. If Cheick Kongo wins this, will it be considered an upset?"). I quite like hearing what is going on, and I just think commentating can make it so much more exciting.

Apparently because you like the commentating youre a corporate stooge? Perhaps you should take a look at some of my other posts before you make stupid ignorant statements.

I think most people watching understand the ground game a lot better than the commentators think. And if not they get an answer from friends and people next too them, sicne ignorance just can't still be the case after so many years of MMA now. I am not going to buy it.

Make the commentaries more technical in relationship to what is going on; and not this hyping the fighter like "OOOoooohh last month he had a pulled tendon, he is now a much better fighter, and wasn't up to...oh I can't finish my commentary he is already knocked out which kinda disproves everything I was just saying..."

Or try to explain the difference between an omoplata and a gogolplata for 5 minutes, unsuccessfully at that and even after the fight is in a new posiiton.

thats the stuff i want to know. u see someone not hrowing leg kicks 20 secs later joe explains it.

and the ohh omg hes rocked etc.. thats the shittt

The way I see it, it's different to compare the TUF fights with no commentary to a live fight. With the live fight, as well as hearing the corner, ref, etc when commentary is off you also get to hear the crowd, which can make a fight either more exciting or boring depending on how involved they are in it.

With commentary, even if nothing is going on in the fight the commentators jobs are to keep you involved in the fight. Can you imagine watching the Gabe Gonzaga and Kevin Jordan fight with no commentary. I think I would shoot myself.

In an exciting fight, it would be nice for the commentators to put down the mics for a couple seconds and just let you hear the fight and the fans, but to always have no commentary would definitely be a mistake.
