Commentating or no commentating?

Hey guys i have discussed with a few friends i watch the fights with and stuff and we all started talking about one of the previous events where the commentating went out for a little bit and it was really nice being able to actually hear everything in the ring that went on hearing the coaches yelling to partners and all that kinda like you see on TUF.

Well I thought it was really nice being able to hear all of that and was thinking of how cool it would be if they either stopped the commentating or if maybe they had 2 channels for the event one with and one without commentating. I can see the advantages of commentating though because new people wont be so lost and all.

So what do you guys think commentating, no commentating, or maybe somehow have the events split or something or any opinions on that?

to be honest i enjoyed watching the past event when the commentating wasn't coming through but for the casual fan and those just getting into it the commentary is necessary as to inform the viewer what is going on so people aren't going... "heyyy he is just laying on him and wiggling around derrr"

it'd be nice if they took the commentating to the golf level. whispers. no color commentary. keep it intelligent and informed. no joe rogan yelling insane specualtions about what could happen from every possible position and no mike goldberg asking dumb questions and making pointless almost retarded comments.

i think it would get really boring if they removed ALL commentating.

The only reason I like the commentary is because it impresses my wife when I say something about the action or a possible submission and Rogan says the same thing 30 seconds later. Actually, it probably doesn't impress her, but I like to pretend.

Yea that was cool when that happened. One thing it made me notice is that sometimes the commentaters influence how you see a fight. When Rogan yells something about a punch and how effective it was, it influences you wether or not it was actually that effective. It would be nice to watch some fights without the commentating but I would also like it sometimes. I do not think I would like to watch it all the time with no commentating but having the option would be nice.

I rather have commentating, id like if it could be Joe Rogan and Randy doing it without Goldberg, Goldberg doesnt seem to no anything about mma and just points out stuff that is in plain view for ex: he just punched him in the face. Joe Rogans voice can get very annoying at times but he does know some stuff.

Commentating yes, the current format? - No.

I think most people watching understand the ground game a lot better than the commentators think. And if not they get an answer from friends and people next too them, sicne ignorance just can't still be the case after so many years of MMA now. I am not going to buy it.

Make the commentaries more technical in relationship to what is going on; and not this hyping the fighter like "OOOoooohh last month he had a pulled tendon, he is now a much better fighter, and wasn't up to...oh I can't finish my commentary he is already knocked out which kinda disproves everything I was just saying..."

Or try to explain the difference between an omoplata and a gogolplata for 5 minutes, unsuccessfully at that and even after the fight is in a new posiiton.

Goldberg is there to keep the flow of the commentating going and to ask questions about stuff so the experts like Randy and Rogan can answer them. All these people who shit on Goldy are retarded. You think the WWE offered the guy a deal that would have made him a millionaire supposedly if he wasnt good at what he does?

But he *uc*ing gets things wrong on a regular basis (Rogan). He is constantly correcting himself after he sees the replay (which we've seen the event the forst time around) or hope his comment fades away.

I really don't mind Goldberg. He is playing the foil for Rogan. Goldberg has been in the business a long time, and to say he knows nothing about the UFC is...well...misguided. Goldberg doesn't come across as a drooling idiot. And, many of his pre-fight monologues shows he does know what he is talking about.

I'd prefer Randy's uncharismatic, somewhat boring, color commentary over Rogan's annoying voice and yelling. And his ring attitude in the after fight is becoming arrogant.

MY FIVE

1. George St. Pierre
2. Anderson Silva
3. Fedor Emelianenko
4. Don Frye
5. Kenny Florian
