Whitlock blames liberal media for Rousey hype

It's official. Everyone and their mother is weighing in on Rousey's loss. It's going to be interesting for her legacy, as her losses are becoming a bigger story than her wins.

Whitlock says some really stupid things, but does make some good points in this video.

“I blame us, the media — we bought and sold [Rousey’s] hype...."

He then brings racism and white privilege into it, losing credibility in my view, but he is right about the liberal media. They were the driving force behind the Rousey hype. They wanted a story about a woman surpassing her male counterparts, and they couldn't do that with Serena as no one would buy into her surpassing male tennis players (Nothing to do with race, dummy).

But he is right. You can't blame Ronda or the UFC for doing their job. The media built up Ronda's immortality and they are responsible for her crash to earth.

In fact, one good thing coming out of this whole thing is scrutiny of the liberal media. First their fraudulent candidate lost in an electoral landslide, and now this.

Thanks for sharing.

For me; I'm convinced that this girl was built-up, she is no way the best, nor even anything close to beat a man!

She was built be the UFC, Dana "bulls...." White (who hugged her for 45 min. after loss!!!!), PR, Propaganda.

When she fought Holms, she got outclassed in every single aspect of the game.

When she fought Nunes, she got rocked, shocked, and mopped the floor. Nunes not just outclassed her, but she even made her seems as an amateur! Just look at the way she stood there, the way she tried to exchange, the everything....

P.S. ESPN played a huge role in this too (building the hype)!

I blame her running through a division barely going past the first round, getting women in the UFC and being a massive bitch... but eh, they are the experts right?

Ughh... it gets worse by the day.

These feckers talking about buying and selling the hype? Now they are over-hyping the hype of the loss. Its just pure exaggeration at every corner. None of them are talking about Nunes amazing performance. Its all about Rousey. Stupid dumb plebs dont even realise they are still doing the same shit.

Media does not exist (anymore) to report news to you. Their job is to convince you of things they feel you should believe.

If media was simply a mediator between the public and information, you would have expected Nunes to win, and Donald Trump would have been known as a pretty good guy, strongly favored to win the election.

I agree with you Calminian.

Only the fools don't believe in what you mentioned up there!

Fox is no exception, but they did get rid of Megyn, so that may be a good sign. Now if she'll only take Shep and Cris Wallace with her, we may actually have a reliable news source.

That said, media has programmed you to hate Fox, as Fox was the only station that contained some truth tellers. So they marketed you to believe they were the worst of the worst. You bought it hook line sinker. Media is very powerful.

As MMA fans, Ronda's hype was earned through what she did in the cage.

As for non MMA fans, she had something that people wanted to see. I'm as anti-SJW bollocks as it gets but I don't see anything wrong with a strong female character rising up in a sport and the media deciding to use that new angle to sell her. Women wanted a badass character and the sport didn't really have any that transcended appeal beyond the cage (Cyborg for example). They got it with Ronda.

People give soooo much credit to the media, but Ronda's not exactly on RTE news in Ireland but my mum and sister in law would still ask when Ronda's fighting.

That's not the issue though. We also appreciated what Shamrock did in the cage. But we didn't equate him to Muhammad Ali or Roger Federer. We understood the sport was growing and in its infancy.

Many MMA fans lifted Ronda onto the goddess pedestal, in essence destroying any chance she would have to live up to it. Now they're speculating on who she could possibly still beat with her arm-bar trick.

Dominance is dominance. You don't say "Rocky Marciano was a bum, he didn't even have good head movement". He was the beating everyone. That makes him a legend. Sugar Ray Robinson might not have the skills to be the best fighter in today's climate, who knows, but he's still the best boxer of all time because of the skills he had at the time.

There will be better fighters than Ronda. More dominant fighters. Nunes is certainly looking like the first proper well rounded fighter in that weight class. But she's got a ways to go before she achieves the title of greatest.

Anyone who can beat all comers with as much dominance is hailed like Ronda was. Mighty Mouse is already one of the greatest fighters of all time. He doesn't have Big Nog and Cro Cop to fight, but when he's still absolutely dominating everyone then he still goes down as one of the best.

"Arm bar trick". That's what she did. People speculated who Chuck would KO with his "overhand right trick".
