Nevada Athletic Commission considering lifting ban on cannabis

Quote:
In November, Nevada was one of the four states that voted for the legalization of the use and sale of recreational cannabis. Given such a circumstance, the Nevada Athletic Commission is now considering removing the said substance on its banned list.

TMZ Sports first reported the news, stating that the Commission is planning to discuss such actions, which ultimately covers all athletes that compete in the state. A meeting is set to take place on Friday.

Prior to its legalization in Nevada, cannabis is one of the controversial yet medically legal substances that usually got fighters in hot water. In 2013, former UFC fighter Matt Riddle was released from the company roster after he tested positive for marijuana in a post-fight drug test, despite stating that his usage was due to medical reasons.

Most notably, former welterweight title contender Nick Diaz was slapped with an 18-month suspension when he was found to have cannabis metabolites during his post-UFC 183 drug test in January 2015. Initially, he was given a five-year suspension.

Should the ban on cannabis be lifted, the report states that it would take at least three months before the new ruling takes effect.

Being suspended for pot is just ridiculous. Only old Fuddy Duddys have an issue with it (while they sit back and drink alcohol).

So basically it would be on the same place of the substance list as alcohol?

Its very arguably a PED. Nick Diaz has said so himself. I bet they'll make it legal and then in ten year when theres more research and proof they'll ban it again. Personally I've never had a strain that does anything but hinder my sporting performances but I have friends who swear by that some strains help them run for longer and train better.

I rarely smoke these days but when I did smoke you got whatever the dealer gave you.

Usually I'd be cabbaged on the couch or laughing my head over stupid things.

I look forward to the day people can go into a cafe and get a menu of different strains like you can in Amsterdam, but this is the UK so it'll probably never happen.

Happening in the states now, Europe is not far behind. A bill was just passed in Ireland for medical use.

As long as they aren't smoking the stuff right as they go to the Octagon I guess I'm fine with it.
